It's a shame Caroline Quentin isn't reprising her role as Maddy, those two were so good together on screen, plus I found the last series to be rather disappointing truth be told. 
Going by the episode descriptions on the website, my favourite episodes were Danse Macabre, Black Canary (the solution was actually ingenious), and The Omega Man. I have all the episodes somewhere on disk.

Very good news, was more accurate about UK teen culture than american shows are about US teen culture.

Very good news, was more accurate about UK teen culture than american shows are about US teen culture.
Well not being American I wouldn't know, it's certainly more accurate about UK teen culture than gooseberry fool like Skins is. At least I hope so.

I do miss Maddy too, but then my favourite episode is Satan's Chimney and she wasn't in that. Black Canary is my 2nd favourite episode and both of those were Xmas specials so I have high hopes for the new one. David Renwick has had 5 years so he should be able to create a good episode, he's directing it too.

The first few series of Jonathon Creek were great, and creepy as gooseberry fool. Then it just got ludicrous and a bit crap.

It has potential. Some very funny moments, but obviously a fair bit of character and plot outlining in the first part.

Alan Davies is a guy who plans magic tricks (i.e. how the illusion of sawing someone in half actually works). Whenever there's a messed up crime (usually a murder) that the police can't solve he is called in to help unravel the mystery. The twist is that all the crimes have some weird ingenious component that's totally ridiculous but part of the fun of the show. I remember an episode in one of the later series where someone wrote a note that led to a suicide or something but it turned out the person who had read it had misinterpreted it because some thunder bugs had landed on the paper, making it look like there were commas that weren't really there. This apparently totally changed the meaning of the letter and somehow led to a death. That's the kind of ludicrous crime solving powers Jonathon Creek (AD) has, though to be honest when they started getting that daft the show went down hill.

It's a about a guy who goes on jonathans. Mostly by creeks.

That was a terrible episode. If you're going to watch it Luke, and I strongly suggest you do, start from the beginning, the early series are really offbeat and contain some fantastically subtle comical moments, and the partnership between Creek and Maddy (Caroline Quentin) is excellent.

The early series were the best. And awesome.
The one where a kidnapper runs (with victim) into a garage surrounded by police...3 hours later the police open the garage after there's no response from kidnapper...only the victim left.
Proper thinks like that - misdirection and trickey - AND stuff the audience could work out too. Not the awful stuff in later series (where someone ended up killing someone with a mechanically tightening vest)
