Uncharted 4 - What's it about?
Brothers in harms way. Set three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Nathan Drake has presumably left the world of fortune hunting behind. However, it doesn’t take long for fate to come calling when Drake’s brother, Sam, resurfaces seeking his help to save his own life and offering an adventure Drake can’t resist.

On the hunt for Captain Henry Avery’s long-lost treasure, Sam and Drake set off to find Libertalia, the pirate utopia deep in the forests of Madagascar. UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End takes players on a journey around the globe, through jungle isles, urban cities and snow-capped peaks on the search for Avery’s fortune.

Nathan Drake. Retired from fortune hunting, Drake is suddenly forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, he embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.

Sam Drake. Sam is five years older than his younger brother Nate, and previously thought to be dead. It is said his disappearance is what originally caused Nate to pursue a life of treasure hunting. Sam has been described as more reckless than Nate and a little jealous of his brother’s achievements.

At the PlayStation Access launch party Naughty Dog revealed a teaser trailer for a new Uncharted game for PS4 labelled 'Uncharted PS4 Teaser video.' Text on the official YouTube page says "The UNCHARTED franchise is coming to the PS4. Developed by Naughty Dog, UNCHARTED will be made exclusively for the PS4 system." The video with a voiceover by somebody who isn't Nathan Drake begins with :

"Some chains can be never be broken.. I lost fifteen years buried alive, erased. You left me... rotting in that hell-hole and never looked back."

Naughty Dog say on their website:

Yeah, it's Uncharted but it may not be a proper sequel is what I meant.

We gonna go all Assassin's Creed now and see Nate re-visiting Francis' memories somehow? I can't see Nate being dropped entirely so if we're going back to Francis it'd make sense.

You will probably start out with Nathan, but will get flashbacks to Francis and he will have the main story.

I'm a fan of the 3 PS3 games and the Vita game but feel a bit 'meh' about this announcement. I want something new. I'll obviously still pick it up on release though.

Same here. I played UC 3 *ages* ago and so am ready for the next one.

Don't mind that it's the same team behind UC3 either, sure it was the worst one but it was still perfectly decent if not amazing. Main problem with that game was that the best bit (on the ship) had absolutely no plot reason for being there

The formula of the game really needs to change. The previous ones just ended up turning into mediocre third-person shooters far too much, especially 3 which was the worst one as a result, and were far too linear. This year's Tomb Raider beat it at it's own game.

I'd really like to see them do something with big, sandbox-style, open environments. And if they still haven't learned how to do proper shooting mechanics after 3-4 games, then they should either just keep that to a bare minimum or drop it completely.

No sandbox. I don't think you understand the appeal, it is the great story pulling you through the linear game. That is what ND do well.

You can still have a great story in a sandbox game, and I didn't think any of the Uncharted game's stories were particularly great anyway.
