It's not that really. It's just why would I give a developer my time and money when there are other developers (Blizzard, Respawn) who respect their consumers and the integrity of their game more than the money they make off of micro-transactions.

If I wanted to play a free to play shooter I would do. Having that kind of model in a full price game just feels exploitative of the game's popularity.

Sorry Fade but that's the biggest load of shite I've heard about UC4. Before I bought the season pass I had zero problems playing online and saving to buy chests which unlock weapons.

Well good for you. But the game is plagued by them, that's fact. You can't unlock the new weapons or skills like you unlock everything else in the game.

When the game launched it was fine. But when they added stuff later on that cost like 2500 points per crate, I was done. I didn't want to grind that much. Especially when Titanfall and Overwatch give me new content completely free and just sell cosmetic DLC. And play much much better.

There's a reason why nobody really mentions the multiplayer in U4 when they talk about how good it is.

Did they change how the multiplayer worked? Because I played loads of the online soon after release and don't remember anything other than cosmetics being paid-for (and I unlocked half of them through random drops anyway as you get them quickly).

I want to go back to U4 online because it is really, really good, but I'll be gutted if they have changed it into a F2P model??

The multiplayer seemed fine when I was playing it a week ago or so and the new skills while desirable to some (I would quite like the gifting ability for example but refuse to buy coins to get it) they aren't game breaking so can just be ignored.
To be honest I get more depressed at how few people choose the throwable medpack over the grenade as the madpack just seems way more helpful to the team.

They added new weapons/skins/costumes/dances and yes they can be quite pricey per chest but they do not give any advantage against someone playing with standard weapons. If you feel they do then you really do, as you always put it, need to get good.

Before having all weapons myself I had zero problems going up against players using P90's etc.

And don't fret Peter, I've always played as a medic whenever I've played the MP.

Defence is just as important as offence, guess more players just have bloodlust when playing and want to kill.

I'll admit to standing next to players who need reviving and just dancing by them, though that's only when the other team are uncatchable.

I'll be on this week if anyone wants to play (I promise to revive).

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade wrote:I'm enjoying this game but it has the same problem that all the other UC's suffer from, in that Naughty dog don't seem to know when the strawberry float to end them. I'm on chapter 18, I thought it surely must be the last one, nope, 4 more to go, plus 2 epilogue chapters. I'm already pretty bored of the core gameplay loop, the combat was never super enjoyable so the thoughts of 4 more chapters of gunning down shoreline goons is actually groan inducing. Like the Zombies in UC1, the purple monkeys in 2, and the space ghosts* in 3, UC4 fluffs its last few chapters by just going, and going, and going. And as cool as the locations are, (and they're strawberry floating jaw droppingly good looking), I'm having a hard time suspending disbelief when I see Pirate Elevators that can haul a 4x4, and the secret Pirate contraptions that are so complicated they couldn't be built nowadays by strawberry floating Elon Musk.
As I say its been a fun ride so far but I really want to get off now. If I could noclip my way through all the remaining combat bowls and just do the story/explorarion, I gladly would.

(*I never played 3 I'm just guessing here)

Luckily the end of the game is fantastic and the epilogue even more so.

That section with the jeep elevator and all the enemies was rage-inducing. Worst part of the game for my by a mile. I dies so many times.

The problem is that most games are balanced around the notion that everyone is on the same playing field. Certain weapons and abilities counter other weapons and abilities. So when certain players have more varied tactical options they posess an advantage.

I'm sure it's fine if you just play casually. But I really like to get my teeth into my multiplayer games.

Look at Overwatch for an example, Ana, one of the new heroes is considered very powerful right now. She is the only character who can deny healing to the other team. If she was paid DLC people would flip out calling her pay to win.

Not only that but it incentivises the devs to make dlc abilities and weapons more powerful so that people want to buy them. This happened in Rainbow 6 as almost every paid operator had to be nerfed pretty hugely.

They're sacrificing the integrity of their game for short term financial gain. Which is fine, but there is a reason why nobody gives a gooseberry fool about the multiplayer generally, and there's a reason other devs are going with the cosmetic dlc model (and it's not just because they're nice).

Yes and it's not half bad but it does use a separate bunch of upgrades so you need to level up again but it seems like fun. I just don't think it will work with randoms as it requires good team play with only 3 people.

Aren't they all on existing multiplayer maps? Didn't look too great.

The DLC skills are no better than the starting skills so there's really no reason to think it will be any more game breaking than when you play without certain skills unlocked. It's honestly not a problem no matter how much you want to delve into the game.

Well I most certainly did not play casually, I played it religiously every day up until the Gears 4 release. As I said I had no problems going against people who had premium weapons. If your no good at the game don't blame microtransactions in UC4 as anyone who's a bit decent can play using the bog standard AK47 and destroy players using premium weapons.

Yeah you can kill people with one of the base weapons. When I used to play this I did better than average. That wasn't my point. My point was that it takes away from and damages the meta game and progression. That is the reason why most new games don't do it and why most competative games that people respect (like dota or Counter Strike) dont do it. Even games in the past used to only sell maps, not weapons or skills.

Despite being a huge Uncharted fan, and having completed 1,2 and 3, I still hand't bought Uncharted 4...

...until now! Just got myself the special edition with the statue of GAME for £45 :-)

Can't wait! I know nothing about this game, so am pretty excited.

I've only just got onto this game, and I have to say it just isn't clicking for me. The climbing bits lack drama, I sort of do the stealth bits until I inevitably get seen and then I just blunder my way through the combat. I dunno, graphics aside, it all just feels a bit PS3.

I'm currently in Scotland, so don't know what proportion of the game I've done, but at the moment I'm just playing it, not enjoying it. Hoping there's enough time for that to change. (I wasn't a massive fan of all the location hopping at the start, so that might have unsettled me slightly).

The game starts after you finish Scotland and get to Madagascar, stick with it.
