Oh god.

It really doesn't look all that much better than what can be achieved on a high end gaming PC.

As a development tool, it looks fantastic to use. I don't know much about game development, more with 3D software, being able to real-time render and then able to jump straight in and play the game, wow

Second video is a much better illustrator. Technically quite impressive. Id quite like to have a play with the sdk, though I suppose I should familiarise myself with ue3 first.

This drop in/drop out stuff is already present in other engines though afaik. I know for a fact its in cryengine, and the scene simulation is a default behaviour in that as well.

Of what? Games? Consoles? Fire flies?

Yes, I am being deliberately obtuse.

I genuinely wish people would stop referring to the next gen of games, there is so little between engines now that it really is down to how devs utilise the skill sets they have. Yes there will be slight improvements but nothing like what happened over the past 10 - 15 years graphically.

UT3 and all the other main engines that are used currently can and do use DX11 and all that gubins already and they will already be using then for the first round of games on the next consoles that will be released in a few years.

Yeah...I also agree graphcs should just stagnate.
