Im not seeing the stagnation here. I can only assume you are ignorant to the technical and computational complexity this engine appears to demonstrate. The particle effects, particularly the smoky room, are pretty advanced.

The end result/fidelity/texture quality etc is down to the art direction.

Specifically, that it doesn't have any because it's a mish-mash designed to show off the technical features?

Unless Epics new game is a carpeting simulator based on Changing Rooms.

Meh. It's also so uninspiring. Bloody corridors and space marines.

Update:
Demo runs on a single GTX 680, same hardware as the earlier elemental demo and Samaritan.

I knew they could come up with the goods if they smashed there heads together. At last, UE actually looks natural.

Nice.

Remember how 2004's UE3 tech demo turned out to be Gears of War, if Epic's next game looks like this then wowza!

This is running on a single GTX 680 too

Regarding FF: The Spirits Within, if you watch it again (it's on Netflix in HD) most of the scenery is just 2D static images.

Technically impressive but the art style is incredibly meh. Why is everything so dark? The FOX engine wowed me more, even though it's a current gen engine, purely because of the art.

I preferred the Samaritan demo. I know they're probably showing off different things but the Samaritan demo did a better job of grabbing my interest.

If that is running real time then it's impressive, but even so, if it is, the amount of interaction in the game will be a lot lower than shown.
