BONUS PACK 1

Available now for PlayStation 3 and PC, Bonus Pack 1 (official free DLC) consists of three deadly arenas: Morbias, Facing Worlds and Searchlight. PC users can find the new content at www.unrealtournament3.com, while PS3 users can download it directly from the PlayStation Network.

Morbias is the deathmatch arena that started it all, perfectly suited for anything from small intense duels to chaotic free-for-all matches. The Unreal Tournament classic, Facing Worlds was one of the most played maps in gaming history. This beloved sniper map makes its return alongside an intricate new capture the flag map, Searchlight, designed for both z-axis rooftop runs and strategic indoor gameplay.

MAPS AND MODS

You can find PC and PS3 maps and mods here:
http://utforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=335

Maps and mods for PC only are labelled with a blue icon beside the thread title like this: Image
Whereas maps and mods for PC and PS3 will have an icon similar to this next to the thread title: Image

So if you're a PS3 gamer looking to download some of the community content, you'd be looking out for icons with red on them.

Be aware that some of the stuff people have made may be a bit buggy, especially the beta releases.

Additionally, skins and character models you download will only be viewable by other online players if they have also downloaded them (otherwise they'll just see a default UT3 character). So, for example, if you want your friends to see you with your new Master Chief model online, get them to download the Master Chief character model too.

GAME MODES

- Deathmatch
- Team DeatHmatch
- Capture the Flag
- Duel: A one versus one gametype. It uses a queueing system, the winner stays, and the loser goes back to the end of the queue. A typical match last five minutes with an unlimited amount of rounds.
- Warfare (formerly known as Conquest): An amalgamation of Onslaught and Assault (with maps potentially as big as three Onslaught maps). While basic game rules are equal to those of Onslaught, Warfare adds unlinked nodes which can always be captured (supplying the captured team with vehicles and a spawnpoint) and countdown nodes (which, after being captured and defended for a certain period of time, create a vehicle or trigger an event helpful to the capturing team) as well as the orb, which can be used to instantly capture and defend nodes.
- Vehicle Capture the Flag: Capture the Flag, with vehicles as part of the map; this exists as a separate game type to Capture the Flag, above.

WEAPONS

Returning weapons include the AVRiL (which can also guide deployed spider mines with its secondary fire), Bio Rifle, Flak Cannon, Link Gun, Rocket Launcher (which has both Unreal's grenade alternate-fire and Unreal Tournament 2004's secondary fire of spiral or spread formations), Shock Rifle, and Sniper Rifle. There are also two confirmed superweapons, the Redeemer and the Target Painter. The Enforcer (which can be dual-wielded) and Impact Hammer based off the original UT, respectively replace the Assault Rifle and Shield Gun from UT 2003 and 2004. The Enforcer fires either single automatic shot, or three round bursts. The Impact Hammer features an EMP blast alternate fire to knock powerups (such as Beserk, UDamage) from enemies. Returning from Unreal and Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict is the Tarydium Stinger, which replaces the Minigun. The Stinger's primary fires hitscan-speed rounds; the secondary fire mode has a slower rate of fire and isn't hitscan, but can nail an opponent to a wall if it's the killing blow.

Killing awards have been expanded from just three in UT2004 to nearly all weapons. Accumulating fifteen kills with a particular weapon or fire mode, and the announcer will award the player with a specific title. The awards are: JackHammer, Gun Slinger, Bio Hazard, Combo King, Shaft Master, Blue Streak, Flak Master, Rocket Scientist, and Head Hunter.

The maps:
Hostile (Warfare)
Many research vessels were lost in the early days of Na Pali exploration. When the terrain or local fauna proved to be too dangerous for recovery, equipment was often abandoned and forgotten. But when it was learned that the Necris had moved in to recover this equipment for their own purposes, the NEG dispatched military salvage units to reclaim their property.

Confrontation (Warfare)
Confrontation Canyon serves as a training ground for Axon forces, improving unit readiness by providing highly realistic, stressful training across the full spectrum of infantry and mechanized conflict. It is the premiere facility for heavy armor training, and all forces must complete courses here before assignment to a Leviathan unit.

Cold Harbor (Warfare)
Axon's Stealth Research Division managed to get some of the early specs for the Necris Nightshade vehicle and have been attempting to retrofit that technology onto their own. The Necris have moved to stop this research, and despite the blockade that sealed the harbor when the NEG enforced the armistice, they have maintained a foothold here and are fervently working to destroy all remaining Axon research.

Downtown_Necris (Warfare)
The Necris are invading territories throughout Taryd, infecting conquered areas with Nanoblack to terraform them to suit their own needs. You must push back the Necris forces and restore order to this sector.

Stranded (Vehicle CTF)
Civilian contractors are often used to reliably transport supplies and equipment over short distances on Taryd, but when this cargo ship full of Axon supplies ran aground in Izanagi territory, a military unit was quickly dispatched to defend the area until a full extraction team could be assembled.

Rails (Vehicle CTF)
Even areas of new construction can be exploited as weak points in Oxida Nova's defenses, so the Iron Guard has established a series of mobile turrets to patrol the perimeter of this worksite. With several city blocks of terrain to cover, including an access point through the city's canal system, protecting this site will be a challenge to even the most experienced of teams.

Suspense_Necris (Vehicle CTF)
Suspense is the only bridge across the Alluvion strong enough to support the weight of heavy combat vehicles. It is under attack by Necris forces that control one river bank.

Dark Match (Deathmatch)
In preparation for the assault on Oxida Nova, Izanagi bombers targeted supply lines and other sites of important infrastructure. This power station was one of the first to be hit, and is now left to defend itself while running only on auxiliary reserves. Attack forces have moved in, and the facility's lights haven't even been restored. This level provides a unique twist on deathmatch in a darkened laboratory lit intermittently by a particle accelerator and emergency lights, and by muzzle flashes and explosions.

Ocean Relic (Deathmatch)
This ancient structure was discovered in the depths of an ocean rift 53 miles off the southern coast of Absalom. While the planet's seemingly endless supply of sentient Nanoblack has kept the facility active, its origins and ultimate purpose remain a mystery. This level features the slow field powerup, a portable version of the slow field deployable.

Eden, Inc. (Deathmatch)
This industrial complex was once a hydroponic research facility focused on saving rare and endangered species. When their grant ran out, funds dried up and all work was suspended. Months later, demo crews moved in to pave the path for a new highway and found that many of the research seedlings had taken root and continued to grow. This level features the introduction of deployables to deathmatch, with both a spidermine trap and an X-Ray field deployable available.

Turbine (Deathmatch)
Axon Research Corporation has many geothermal power stations just like this scattered across the northern reaches of Taryd. They form a tight grid that supplies power to the research facilities and military installations common to the area. This level features the return of a classic Unreal Tournament deathmatch layout.

Koos Barge (Deathmatch)
Continuing their long tradition of expertly crafted sea vessels, Koos Shipping now offers barge services across all of Taryd's oceans and waterways. While the prices are exorbitant, they're the only line that guarantees that your shipment will arrive on time and undamaged, even when shipping lanes take them across the frozen polar regions.

Lost Cause (Deathmatch)
The Necris have not revealed the original purpose of this crumbling structure, nor have they explained why it was decommissioned. It stands on the cliffs of Absalom as a monument to history, a living link to the Necris ancestors.

Morbid (CTF)
Morbias Station Gamma is a transport hub that services overflow traffic passing through Taryd's jumpgates. The Station offers a terrestrial shuttle, storage facilities (with quarantine services for live cargo), and a social center where guests can meet incoming visitors or hold private meetings in a neutral setting. Designed for use with the Titan mutator, Morbid includes heavy blast doors that can only be operated by Titans.

Nanoblack (CTF)
Giant vats of Nanoblack are processed and stored in facilities like this one across Omicron. The structures are largely self-sustaining once operational, and are upheld with much reverence by those who respect the power and significance of the Nanoblack seething within. Public access is highly restricted.

Shaft (CTF)
The substrata mines of Taryd produced over 800 gigatons of Tarydium last year alone. Production never stops here, not even for war, and mining drones will remain operational even as chaos erupts around them.

I need to link my PC version with my Steam account sometime. Hopefully I can just reinstall it from the DVD and not have to download it wasting gigs of bandwidth. Fingers crossed that the integration with Steam has given the community a bit of a boost too because it hasn't exactly been buzzing with activity over the last couple of months.

Was hoping this update was coming to 360 :(

Fortunately some of the big features and a few maps are already on the 360 but it would have been nice to have the new game modes and other little tweaks.

Hopefully they'll announce something soon for the 360.

Might just inspire me to pick this up for my PC now that I know it'll run it. The PS3 version was good, but loading mods as laborious, and there weren't enough players on there, and the ones that were, had keyboard and mouse set ups, completely destroying me.

Holy gooseberry fool. I really like Unreal games on the PC. It's an amazing experience.

Seems like Epic really want to give this game some legs to stand on in regards to the community. I'll be buying Unreal 3 now for this. I hope the other Steam folks will be purchasing it too.

This content will probably be planned for the 360 too from Epic but they may be having difficulty handing it out for free due to Microsoft so they won't really announce it unless they get to release it for free or they agree with Microsoft to charge for it.

9 quid for the Disc version which you can install and register the cd code into steam.

http://www.thehut.com/hut/9941845.produ ... l=GENAFFIL

You can buy it off Steam directly but having a disc copy means you can have a physical copy with you to install on other computers.

Valve got away with their recent DLC for L4D for free, so maybe Epic will as well. They don't have much of a userbase so far for U3 so they could argue they want to draw in more users, it's not like they can charge for something if there's no customers.

I'd imagine the added trophy support will get a lot more people playing.

Myself included.

I know. I'm bringing my PS3 to uni now, so you can rest at ease.

Though, we'll probably be all about the SF4 this week, and KZ2 next week.

Should be very cheap to buy now.
