Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Titan Pack of Epicness (PC, PS3)

How many PS3 owners do we have, could we organise a session?
The lack of an Xbox 360 version isn't a reaction to the poor sales on the platform, says Epic director, Steve Polge. It's partly because "a lot of the content is already on the 360 - 5 of the 16 maps, Achievements, and the split-screen," he says, but he continues with what feel like a more convincing reason. "And we couldn't do the mod browser, there's no structure for that on the 360. And the pack is larger than Microsoft's patch limit."

If they cut the mod browser and the stuff that's already in the 360 version, perhaps they'll be able to keep it within the size limit. Microsoft should really do away with this silly size restriction though.
I'm pretty disappointed too, but I'll probably just get the PC version eventually.

i have it, dm owns brah!
I've had a few Destructoid readers ask me since yesterday why only the PS3 and PC are getting the Unreal Tournament III Titan Pack. And I knew the answer; it's just that my notes sucked, and I didn't want to misrepresent here. Instead, I'll let Epic Games tell you themselves. I've pulled this from an email they just sent:
The file size limitations prevent us from releasing it, not to mention we have things like split-screen support (which 360 already has), maps that are already in the 360 version, the integrated mod browser (which 360 doesn’t support)… the list goes on. Obviously, we are big supporters of Xbox 360 (Gears, anyone?) but there are significant hurdles keeping us from shipping the Titan Pack for Microsoft’s platform.
So there you have it. From what I understand, the code won't actually fit inside Microsoft's preset patch size limit.
And what I did recover from my notes of sh*tty handwriting details the rest as far as the maps are concerned. As said above, 5 of the maps were actually on the Xbox 360, but there's no chance at getting the other 11, as those require some of the new features or weapons included in the Titan update.

I think I'll sell my 360 copy then. I'll just buy it again on PC at some point.

We're (360 owners) being fobbed off by Epic and MS over this. There is no reason on God's green Earth why they couldn't release the maps in smaller packs and rework the content to meet both MS's idiotic file size limitations and Epic's technical requirements for them to work (i.e. plug into the game on 360). This is all baloney. This is about money - and they can bullsh*t all they like over at Epic: it's quite obvious that since MS ain't willing to hand over the sheckles, Epic have taken their ball and gone home in a huff.
It's all a bit shabby, imo.

I play UT3 on PC. I've never had any luck trying to add people as a friend. Took about 20 attempts last time I tried.

They are switching to using steam for matchmaking and server browsing, so me and the GRcade gang will all now be your friends in UT3
