The usual banana split brigade are out on American TV either defending locking children in cages, denying that the cages are cages or pretending that the kids are actors.

What a strawberry floating state America is in. If you are taking children away from their parents and locking them in cages, then you are the bad guys. If you are defending a government that is doing that, then you are the bad guy. You despicable banana splits.

I’ve seen some of them try and defend it by saying Obama started it. Even if true, it’s amusing (in a dark way) that the only Obama policy Trump likes is putting brown children in cages.

What's weird is that traditionally, Republicans favour small government. They accuse the Democrats of a sort of backdoor socialism - over-taxing, overdubbing, over-subsidising etc. - and of meddling in the affairs of the people with a massive list of "cannots". It's one of the things they say when you talk about gun control. The government shouldn't interfere in peoples' lives, and what happens if they turn tyrannical.

The odd thing is, this forced separation is as big an erosion of citizen/human rights as you're going to get. They have no problem with the government coming up with a subtext for separating people in cages. If they start doing this with a bunch of "undesirables", what happens if the government's definition of "undesirables" changes?

Of course, US politics is just tribalism now, so they'll be fine with it.

James O'Brien just played some audio from one of these cages of a 4 year old girl crying for her 'momma' who she hasn't seen for 3 days. It's heart breaking.

As a country, if we're not happy with this situation (and we strawberry floating shouldn't be), then the only options are to either cancel his visit or every single one of us should be there to 'welcome' him here.

I don't think even a mass protest would do much as they would just claim it was all paid for by Soros and thus not real protests. The fact they will have zero evidence for this or that it's completely untrue won't matter as his supporters will believe it.

As a country we are split between those that think Trump is a banana split, those that think Trump is a banana split but want a trade deal and those who love Trump and would love to see these policies enacted over here.

I hope that the first group are the biggest, but I am not convinced.

I think the level of protest would be historic. I know myself if he came here I'd protest and I'm not one to be doing this.

Yeah it's definitely not true, it was a policy brought in my Jeff Sessions and the Trump administration recently. They can put a stop to it any time they like.

Soros is just a dog whistle codeword for Jews. The people ringing up the radio or commenting online might not realise it, but they are basically just parroting “Jews control the world” bullshit.
