Everyone involved in permitting this horrendous affair should be put in prison, and the UN should, after Trump vacates the White House, declare it a war crime to do what he did. Then make it retroactive, so he can be tried for war crimes and not be able to pull out of the UN.

With the way a lot of Americans feel about the UN, that would only result in the United States of Trumpia going to war against the rest of the world.

Which is why they should wait until a Democrat is in office, because Democrats actually respect the UN.

:simper: I'm going to say that, as authoritarian as Trump is, neither he nor the GOP are going to be able to Palpatine their way through this.

I do think that America will meet a Roman end, but I don't think that Trump will be its Julius Caesar.

I haven't been following this US immigration story…what happened to the children of illegal immigrants before Trump was president?

What Trump did was introduce a policy designed to deter immigrants by taking their children off of them. He wanted to send the message that if you enter America then your children would be forfeit. Those children were then put into cages.

Since the story broke, photos have surfaced of kids being locked up under the Obama administration. Trump and his supporters are using these to point at Obama and say “LOOK, HE DID IT!!” whereas the photos from the Obama era are of kids who arrived unaccompanied. It’s still wrong to cage them, but it is not the same thing as literally ripping children out of their parents arms.

To make it all worse, the bureaucracy is so appalling that it is likely that many of the children will never be reunited with their parents ever again.

Trump has seen the bad publicity and so has issued an executive order to stop kids being taken away from their parents. He and his family are holding this up to show that Trump is righting wrongs. Except he is righting the wrong that he created. And kids will still be caged, it’s just now they will be caged with their family.

Anyone who does not totally condemn Trump for this is a disgusting person, its one of those things that is so evil and so unfathomable that I dont have strong enough words to say what I truly think of them. I cant understand how anyone can see news like this and not be sickened by it.

How are these families even getting into America any way, surely they are all too busy building Trump's wall?

One of the most sickening things about this whole affair is that, before signing an order dismantling a policy he himself put in place, Trump was using these children as hostages, ranting about how, if he had his wall, none of this would have happened. He then lied about being able to stop it himself (stating only Congress could halt the process) before literally signing a piece of paper to stop it.

Except not really, as moggy points out all this exec order means is that families will be imprisoned together now. And the 2300 children who were already separated face a long and arduous road to being reunited with their parents, if they ever are.

It's...mindblowingly disgusting.

This. I don't honestly think he believes any of the nationalistic bullshit that is ascribed to him, everything he does is rooted in his own legacy and how much money he can make out of it. He isn't a nazi, he has no belief structure beyond himself. Classic psychopath, no empathy and no consideration of other human beings as actual people.

Why tweet her own dad? Surely she can just talk to him in person when he's getting her to piss on him?

Because she was with Eric at the time and Donald will not go anywhere near him.

I agree. It's pretty obvious he only cares about one of his kids and the rest can rot in jail for all he cares as long as he can make some money out of the situation.
He only cares about himself and this whole Presidency is because Obama insulted him and he's so thin skinned he thinks he can obliterate Obama's memory by undoing as much of what he did as he can. When he finishes being President he'll revert to his normal routine of just being a fat tub of gooseberry fool who thinks throwing money at problems is fine and that screwing people is just good business.

No golden shower for Eric

So what happened in the interim here? Trump was relinquishing all responsibility for this and was actively blaming the democrats for this situation. Then he does an Executive order. So what changed? Did anything change? Or did the backlash grow to big for him?
