So is it actually confirmed that they are doing this? Because if so, wow. Do they have an equivalent?

I'm sure Bush 2 pulled out of this or something similar as well.

It's a pretty regular occurrence, is it not? Democrats join it, Republicans leave it.

Sort of.

It was founded in 2006, Bush decided not to seek a seat on the council. Obama then joined it. And now Trump has taken them out of it.

Poor man exacerbated with what's happening in the world and with these detention centers for children in tears on James O'Brien. I feel his pain, but I believe that this will all be over turned some day, I have to.

How has America got to this stage in 200-odd years... What a clusterfuck of a country. Slightly ironic Trump hasn't been offed for being evil yet lots of "good" presidents have died for less.

I thought they pulled out because of criticism about Israel.

Many Americans also have this odd idea that any international body is obviously Anti-American and can't be considered to be fair.
They also don't like the idea of Americans being subject to a higher international court for the same reason even though those same people will then look at other countries doing stuff they don't like and want that same court they just slammed to take action.

It's why the UN has such low approval ratings in the US as they think that because it doesn't always do exactly what they want it to it makes it hostile towards the US and they have this odd idea that because the UN HQ is in the US and they pay more (I don't think they realise that whatever country hosts it will have to spend money but the influx of foreign leaders and staff will also bring in money) into UN funding (which nobody forces them to do) they should call all the shot forgetting that it's a coming together of world leaders.

Americans seem to want all the power of the Roman Empire without actually bothering to conquer the rest of the world first.

To be fair, the US pays for a whopping 22% of the UN budget, and they are asked to pay that as the amount each nation should pay is calculated based on GDP...

https://factly.in/united-nations-budget ... countries/

I think the mistrust of the average American towards the UN is just an extension of the mistrust of their own government, which I feel is somewhat well founded given all the gooseberry fool that the US government has done to its own citizens over the years, as well as those from other countries.

The video of him signing that is hilarious. They must have said 'This has been going for years, Obama administration' about 10 times. Gotta influence those sheep.

Basically, yesterday just changes the problem. There's a law that says children with families seeking entry to US cannot be held for more than 20 days. It often takes more than 20 days to process them.

We’re watching real life, not a TV drama.

Yeah, I has to pause and scrub through it because I found the music emotionally offensive. It's not strawberry floating theatre, it's clear how wrong this is.

https://www.texasmonthly.com/news/whats ... separated/

There is no one process. Judging from the mothers and fathers I’ve spoken to and those my staff has spoken to, there are several different processes. Sometimes they will tell the parent, “We’re taking your child away.” And when the parent asks, “When will we get them back?” they say, “We can’t tell you that.” Sometimes the officers will say, “because you’re going to be prosecuted” or “because you’re not welcome in this country” or “because we’re separating them,” without giving them a clear justification. In other cases, we see no communication that the parent knows that their child is to be taken away. Instead, the officers say, “I’m going to take your child to get bathed.” That’s one we see again and again. “Your child needs to come with me for a bath.” The child goes off, and in a half an hour, twenty minutes, the parent inquires, “Where is my five-year-old?” “Where’s my seven-year-old?” “This is a long bath.” And they say, “You won’t be seeing your child again.

Sometimes mothers—I was talking to one mother, and she said, “Don’t take my child away,” and the child started screaming and vomiting and crying hysterically, and she asked the officers, “Can I at least have five minutes to console her?” They said no. In another case, the father said, “Can I comfort my child? Can I hold him for a few minutes?” The officer said, “You must let them go, and if you don’t let them go, I will write you up for an altercation, which will mean that you are the one that had the additional charges charged against you.” So, threats. So the father just let the child go. So it’s a lot of variations. But sometimes deceit and sometimes direct, just “I’m taking your child away.”
