It’s their fault for being poor. If they worked hard then they could be President!

This pretty much sums up the attitude of many US conservatives who honestly think being poor is a choice people make and can just be changed at will but poor people are just lazy. They will say if you live in an area without jobs "Just move house to somewhere with jobs" and bat away any idea that people have family ties to a place or other legitimate reasons they can't leave.

Everyone can be rich in America you just have to put in a tiny bit of effort and anyone who isn't rich doesn't deserve help as they obviously can't be bothered to help themselves.

The fact that Trump has never put in a hard days work in his entire life and counts a $10m loan from his father as small shows just how removed from reality his supporters are.

Shut up communist. If you work hard then you will be President, that’s the American dream that PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP has created.

You just want free stuff while making hard workers pay for it. Move to Venezuela if you think socialism works. :x

I find it highly amusing when you see the old "Well, this is what socialism looks like in Venezuela" line trotted out whenever someone says any policy that can even remotely be classed as socialist. It's just such a shitty arguing tactic as is obviously strawberry floating stupid but US journalists are overly polite and won't throw the idea back in their faces and point out the obvious absurdity.

"Oh, so you want free healthcare? I hope you like eating rats as that's how it always ends!".

Oh yeah, I can really see Trump with a spade helping out like a boss.
He obviously loves manual labour and is in loads of pictures doing DIY or other handy tasks.

Fake news. Trump was working with the fire department that day and he was the first firefighter up the stairs. He survived by hangliding (while carrying 15 survivors) out of a window from the 54th floor.

Also the US has been deliberately holding Venezuela's economy back for years.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

That's a classic conservative tactic. The same has happened with Obamacare in that they claim the program won't work so they deliberately cripple it so it doesn't work and then claim victory when it fails because of the changes they made.
It's either that tactic or they spot a tiny level of fraud in a system and then claim it's under reported and that the fraud level is astronomical and whatever benefit it is should be scrapped unless the fraud benefits the ultra rich in which case they completely ignore it.

KK wrote:Hope the people of the Carolinas have good house insurance. You look at how many of their homes are built in that region, particularly in the sub $100,000 category, this thing is going to wipe them out if it hits as strong as it's currently projected - though these hurricanes do have a tendency to weaken.

You have to ask how long these outer banks and coastal areas are going to be habitable. Parts of Florida as well are gradually sinking.

Do they now.

Hurricanes are easy to deal with, just nuke them :shifty: .

There you go, problem solved.

You can stop them by sending Gerard Butler into space to build a network of weather calming satellites.

It is interesting how much damage to porperty is caused in category 1/2 hurricanes compared to what similar wind speeds do to stuff over here. Not sure what is better. A cheap, wooden house that will get blown away every time, or something more expensive that will get damaged. Guess a lot of people don't have a choice. In Tornado Alley though, it is a bit bizzare.

Natural disasters are just the planet's way of trying to thin the herd. We should embrace it and rejoice at the destruction.

I'd have thought you should build large and solid basements, and then stick a cheap wooden frame over the top of it. Move everything into the basement before a storm hits and minimise damages.

For a tornado it makes sense, but not sure going into a basement during a hurricane is the best idea.

A strong sealed basement would be great for keeping all of the dead bodies in one place.

That's great in the UK, but what about surviving a hurricane in the USA?

It's simple, you just build a second basement underneath that one for all the water to drain into!

Fool proof I tell you
