A large portion of Wii Sports' success has been down to multiplayer.

If you want to play WSR with another person they will have to buy another M+.

But they won't. I know I would buy one, but I am an informed gamer. My mates would only buy one if I told them about it. Even then they would be reluctant to splash out on another controller just for some multiplayer. But these are the expanded audience.

Pretty sure thats not the case at all.

:fp:

£69.99 for a piece of plastic you stand on...a tough sell and complete rip off that is.

Oh wise up Hugo, you know full well what he meant. If you show someone a wii balance board, and what it does, it then doesn't look all that expensive-at least not overly so.

Show them a lump of plastic that looks like it has fallen off the bottom of a remote for £25 quid and it's a much harder sell, particularly when what it does isn't so readily apparent.

Plus, aren't they only $15 in the States?

No.

All you need to do is play Wii Sports Resort to see what Motion Plus does, if what we've seen so far is anything to go by, its far more immediately obvious than a set of scales.

No one will care Hugo. In terms of the expanded audience they will not see £25 for a lump of plastic as good value. Wii Fit is a lifestyle item. Motion + is an unnecessary expense.

How do you explain the benefits of MotionPlus without directly or indirectly revealing that the current controller is a bit...pants?

I think Nintendo should bundle MotionPlus with Wii Sports Resort as standard. Simply put, a stand-alone version has no reason for existing. That's the only way you're properly going to get this into homes without segregating the market, or the game itself. Same for...

No?

Judge: "Well Mr. Hugo, what have you to say to that evidence-your client was arrested at the scene, his fingerprints were on the murder weapon and he's made a full confession"?

Hugo: "No".

As for your (non)point, the benefits of motion plus over and above the normal wiimote are not going to be all that evident to casual gamers just by looking at the thing, or even whilst playing. Indeed, I doubt most casual gamers would notice a real difference between ordinary wiisports and that of wiisports resort. That's why I think Canton is right and you are wrong. It's also why your wiifit comparison was misguided.

£25 to make your Wii work like it should have done in the first place, bargain.

Soooooo...let's change things up a bit.

What's the next game that's likely to boost hardware? Or are we looking towards the E3 press conferences for technological hardware updates or price drops?

So Wii Sports Resort isn't being released as a stand alone product?

No. I don't think so.

The standalone version is for multiplayer or other games that support Motion Plus.

You aren't getting it still. They will buy Wii Sports Resort. Having bought Wii Sports Resort, the battle is over. It matters little if they buy another Motion Plus to go with it (though I think a lot will, they'll probably buy another game that also has it bundled).
