It’s got to a stage where an American school shooting is like saying “it’s raining in Manchester”. Their children will die, there will be an all too brief media storm and then they will still do nothing about it.

At least the shooter is being socially responsible.

Hard to care any more. I know that’s harsh, but this is something like the 10th school shooting in 2018 alone. We have practically watched everything that can be done in terms of barbarism with a gun, be done. Nigh on a rocket launcher, what’s left?

Sympathies to all the parents that have lost their children today...which is about all those in charge have to offer every time this happens as well.

It's too early to talk about gun control and by the time does come to talk about it another shooting will happen and we'll be back to it being too early again.

There's more chance of a Lib Dem landslide victory with Nick Clegg being named PM for life because the win was just so gosh darn awesome than there is of any gun control in the US. In a country where even the term "sensible and limited gun control" or not letting mentally ill people have access to military style weaponry is seen as some communist plot to destroy America I think we can safely say that all hope on the issue was lost long ago.

It’s pretty hard not to feel anything but fury and hatred towards banana splits like this. You only need to know that countries that don’t sell strawberry floating guns don’t have this problem. I sincerely hope this guy and people like him get shot.

With over 300 million firearms in circulation in the USA, drugs cartels, and trafficking of weapons across vast states and boarders, to stop and then reverse what’s going on would be an undertaking of such epic proportions I can’t see anyone even trying it. The process would take years. The outrage from the NRA and gun fanatics would be unbelievable.

And that is what would be considered the extreme or nuclear option; even getting some sort of gun controls passed is an uphil, fruitless and toothless endeavour.

I hate the fact that I barely raised a shrug on reading this news.

I’ve been watching Active Shooter on Sky Atlantic every week, the latest was the Pulse nightclub. Incredible footage and firsthand accounts of these events.

I used to really want to live and work in America when I was young - it seemed like the place to be, but these days I honestly don't even want to visit the US on holiday let alone move there for any length of time.

The mindset of such a huge portion of US citizens just seems so alien to me now - that something like this is met with such aggressive defences of their "right to bear arms" and how they refuse to engage in any discussion on gun control. Depressing stuff.

The shooter might be a Trump supporter.
