Twitter makes for some depressing reading. Some famous people will retweet a thought provoking statement about change to gun laws and the comments are full of things like "restricting gun ownership is NOT the answer!", "criminials will always find a way
to kill people" Someone says it works in other countries and this get shot down with "enjoy your rights in those countries", "those countries are bankrupt because of healthcare", "look at Chicago where it is illegal to own guns".

Things are never going to change.

I got to go to a police training session once to see how they handle reports of an active shooter in a school. It was pretty cool.

During the training session I and a bunch of other observers were with a police officer guide that was showing us how things are done, I was at the back of the group and I guess I was standing out around a corner when another police officer came around saw me took out his pink plastic gun and started telling me to get on the floor. Rather then comply I was just standing there wondering why he was yelling at me until the guide came and told him I was ok.

I also got to be a hostage at one point.

It was a training exercise, the police and the criminals all had brightly coloured plastic guns.

Weirdly the SWAT guys who were leading the training were armed with real guns. I mean I guess they always need to be ready but it seemed a bit... much.
