Not sure if this is a potentially sensitive topic, but with torrents getting harder to find I'm thinking about switching over to some kind of Usenet... thing.

I don't really know anything about it though, anyone have any advice?

tweaknews.eu as provider, I sign up to the 3 month pack and let it lapse every time and they send me an email with a discount offer if I come back. Every time.

omgwtfnzbs.com are my indexers.

sabnzbd is my downloader of choice.

Do I need to get invited to something? Is this like a digital version of the masons? :|

Most of the index sites got scared after NZBMatrix got shut down and went invite only, mine doesn't even allow invites unless you donate.

Binsearch.info is fine if you know what you're after, though.

Most are invite only.

Its a super secret club for cool guys.

Or you could get on a public indexer like some povvo, I guess.

nzbplanet.net is a decent enough free indexer.

Only real USenet topic I could find but a word of warning: It seems some people are all of a sudden now using 'custom video codecs' packaged with new movie downloads (in this case The Raid 2 1080p) and offering a .exe file with it. Something tells me that .exe file is a trojan/virus-packed file so this seems like a new way to screw people over. Never seen this before in all my time using Usenet (over 6 years now).

I read that as "shemales.com" and thought I had wandered into a different thread.

I've noticed this a few times too, I always check the actual format of anything I download before attempting to play it but yes an .exe file is definitely something dodgy.

I first started using it in 2005. Does the job just fine. Open NZB, downloads in no time at all, done.
