PostUsing games consoles in other countries.

I'm due to move to Tokyo for a year at the end of September and I'm thinking of sending my wii, wii u and PS4 over for the stay. Because of the difference in power outage I'm not sure what I should do about powering my systems. From my past experience with imported consoles it's normally a case of using a converter to power the machines without destroying the ac adapter.
With that in mind what is a good converter for the wii, wii u and ps4? The UK AC adapters for Wii and Wii U are 230-250v. I've read that the PS4 is universal and has an AC that can work in any region but I'd need to find something that is solid evidence because I can't find anything on the console itself.

Better yet is there somewhere that sells the Japanese AC adapters (or in the ps4's case a power cable) for these systems so I don't have to play around with adapters?

The PS4 and WiiU have universal PSU's (even though the back of the WiiU says it doesn't, it actually does. Nintendo) All you need is a Japanese power cable (or a travel adapter) and they'll work no problem. I have NTSC versions of both and they both work fine on either side of the world.

You'll need a step converter for the Wii, though.

Well that's a relief. So I only need an ac adapter/step down for wii. It'd be easy enough to buy a japanese wii ac online but a lot of them are listed as being from hong kong which I'd rather not touch.

Most PSUs are now 100v to 230v @ 50Hz so it's generally just a plug adapter that is required just check the back of the unit/appliance etc

But as said above the Wii will require a different PSU as it's 230v only

One thing about bringing the Wii and Wii U is that they aren't region free. If want a new game you'll have to buy it digitally or get someone to ship you a Pal copy over.

The PS4 is region free (I have a Japanese one) and most of the Japanese software has an English language option. Some however, don't and are entirely in Japanese.

Only wii u game to come out that I want is Zelda. My Wii is modded and will play anything. So I'm fine game wise really.

Just remember when you're coming back to declare them correctly, or you'll get humped for import charges when they get back the UK.

So going back to this. The ac adapter for the original Wii only works in uk but I've noticed a lot of 3rd party ones do 100v-240v, assuming they are not dodgy enough to explode (obviously not going to buy one from china or anywhere like that) wouldn't buying one of them let me use the wii on a normal travel adapter?
Problem with step converters is I'm struggling to find them online, everywhere either sells wall adapters or massive transformer boxes.

If they are 100v-230v then it will work with the Wii just got to trust the 3rd party product.
