So, after giving Rick and Morty a second chance to wow me and it did. I have done the same with it's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It's really good.

Riverdale S01E01, Thursdays in the US.

As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom. Archie Andrews is still the all-American teen, but the summer's events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music - not follow in his dad Fred's footsteps - despite his forbidden relationship with Riverdale's young music teacher, Ms. Grundy. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, Archie must look for a new music mentor and turns to Josie McCoy but she is focused solely on her band, Josie and the Pussycats. Weighing heavily on his mind is also his fractured friendship with budding writer Jughead Jones. Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooperis anxious to see her crush Archie after being away all summer, but she's not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. And Betty's nerves, which are hardly soothed by her overbearing mother Alice aren't the only thing holding her back. When a new student, Veronica Lodge arrives in town from New York with her mother Hermione there's an undeniable spark between her and Archie, but Veronica doesn't want to risk her new friendship with Betty.

Hunted S01E01, debuts Sunday in the US then every Wednesday.

Hunted follows nine teams of two in a real-life manhunt as they attempt the nearly impossible task of disappearing in today’s vast digital world as highly skilled investigators combine state-of-the-art tracking methods with traditional tactics to pursue and catch them. From searching their targets’ homes and scouring their internet and cell phone histories, to identifying behavioral patterns, Hunters in the field and Command Center investigators work together to identify clues to potential hiding places and collaborators that can ultimately lead to capture. Will the anxiety of being fugitives on the run cause teams to make a critical error, or will they be able to stay off the grid long enough to avoid being found within 100,000 square miles of the southeastern United States? A grand prize of $250,000 will be awarded to each team that successfully evades being caught for up to 28 days.

I take it Hunted is a remake of the Channel 4 show?

The Channel 4 one wasn't that great because the TV show people didn't have access to any of the police systems and so the whole thing was a bit setup. Maybe the US version will be different?

The showrunner of Riverdale wrote Afterlife with Archie which I liked so I'm on-board.

All the glowing critical response that finale is getting makes me hopeful but ratings aren't great. I can see it getting cancelled after season 2.

First episode is online and I think the second one is too.

It's really good so far.

I would to go on a show like this, I applied for the UK version but didn't hear back.

Cool, i'll check it out later. I quite enjoyed the first series of the UK one but 2nd one seems a bit too fake and setup.

Someone on Reddit said they got turned down from the UK show just because they went to scouts when they were a kid, so it seems they want people with no survival skills and that are easy to catch. Probably a compliment that you didn't get on!

Second episode is out as premiere was a two hour special.

Then it's weekly on Wednesday in US.

Loving this show :)

Watched the first two last night and enjoyed it a lot. They have a really good mix of fugitives.

The car crash made me wonder how real it all is though as their cameraman was in the car with them yet the camera angle catching the crash was from the car behind. Either they have a whole other camera crew following them in another car or there's some dodgy stuff going on. By episode 2 I just turned my brain off, assumed it's all real and that they reshoot stuff afterwards, and liked it a lot more.

So the one thing I didn't expect Riverdale to crib from Afterlife with Archie was the very heavy suggestions of incest between two characters...

The show opens with it

Riverdale

Pros:
The female cast are all really good performers, Veronica and Betty are carrying every scene they're in
Casting Shelly Johnson's actress in a show with obvious Twin Peaks comparisons was amusing. As is the way the show is holding back Jughead interacting with anyone but Archie as some kind of viewer hook.
Great costuming and makeup

Cons:
Archie is both a boring character and one played by a weak actor, he is not good in the scenes without at least one of the girls.
Some of the dialogue is hella clunky
Right now the gay character is pretty stereotypical, they acknowledge this but don't do anything to change it.

Finally the characters are Sophomores, so Archie's summer affair with a teacher was actually her statutory raping a 15 year old.

I'm watching every episode of this. So far it's pretty standard teen drama but it's copying the teen noir tone of Veronica Mars pretty hard which is an instant plus for me.

Ginger Twins are creepy bro. As well as writing Afterlife with Archie, the show-runner is the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics so I guess he's trying to make that relationship canon wherever he can.
