See I think they lampshaded the ending too much with Dee saying right before he went on stage that she was going to reunite him with his daughter. Cut that line or move it earlier in the episode and the ending is more of a surprise.

They made it look like she was being nice to him all episode, so that final twist caught me off-guard but in hindsight maybe I should have seen it coming.

:datass:

King has so much material that if this is some kind of anthology series maybe covering two books a season, it could last for ages.

Riverdale 1x04
-Did Betty want her mother to find the gun and rumble Grundy? Not sure why else she'd steal it.
-Luke Perry didn't seem particularly bothered his son had been statutory raped.

-Veronica remains the best.

I just finished going through The People VS OJ Simpson. That series had no right to be as good as it was. It was nothing at all like the usual Ryan Murphy schlock, although most of his shows do at least have a terrific first season. However, this was a totally different beast altogether, it was genuinely well acted, written and directed and thoroughly gripping throughout without any of the usual RM silliness. I watched 2 episodes a night last week it was so addictive. This trial was nuts. The only complaint I would have is that Cuba Gooding JR looks & sounds nothing at all like the real OJ, whereas the rest of the cast could be lookalikes in their spare time.

Big Little Lies S01E01, Sundays in the US.

In the tranquil seaside town of Monterey, California, nothing is quite as it seems. Doting moms, successful husbands, adorable children, beautiful homes: What lies will be told to keep their perfect worlds from unraveling?

Told through the eyes of three mothers – Madeline, Celeste and Jane – Big Little Lies paints a picture of a town fueled by rumors and divided into the haves and have-nots, exposing the conflicts, secrets and betrayals that compromise relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and friends and neighbors.

Based on the New York Times number-one bestseller of the same name by Liane Moriarty, this seven-part limited series is a subversive, darkly comedic drama that weaves a tale of murder and mischief as it explores society’s myth of perfection and the contradictions that exist beneath our idealized façade of marriage, sex, parenting and friendship.

I still find it hilarious that they brought back The Good Wife after less than a year with an almost identical title because nobody involved wants to work with Julianna Marguilles any more.

Allegedly she fell out with her co-star Archie Panjabi because she won an emmy before Marguilies did. Tension on the set apparently got so bad that at some point IIRC around season 4 their characters completely stopped having scenes together but would find contrived reasons to only talk on the phone. The characters had been best friends and worked at the same firm.

Eventually Panjabi's character was written out and in her last episode she had her first scene with Marguilies in years. It came out like the day after the episode aired that the two actresses hadn't even been in the same room when they filmed the scene. They each filmed their lines at different times and edited it together in post-production.

There's talk that Marguilies has been trying to get on this new show and the producers were like LOL NO.

The Good Fight opening is really amusing to watch knowing that they had to scrap the original one showing Hillary being elected president

Good Fight ep 2:
Abernathy in sunglasses was such blatant fan pandering but I loved it. I really like how GF is more of an ensemble than GW which got into the habit of introducing strong narrative characters and then sweeping them to the side to let Alicia's storylines and screen time through.

Taken S01E01, Mondays in the US.

From Executive Producer Luc Besson ("Taken," "The Fifth Element") comes a modern-day, edge-of-your-seat thriller that follows the origin story of younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen, "Vikings") as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As he fights to overcome the trauma of the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills. In 30 years, this character is destined to become the Bryan Mills that we've come to love from the "Taken" films.
