Heard so many great things about this series, then finally got to play the remaster on PS4 and... just couldn't get into it Will give it another bash down the line, when I have nothing else to play.

Didn't know there was a 2 & 3 lol

Haha, me neither, thought there may have been a 2, but certainly wasn't aware of a 3......

Ace to see this series still going! Sega's honestly not in as bad a place as you would've thought.

Might try and finally get through the PC version of 1, loved what little I played of it

Aye, they were PSP only and the third one was exclusive to Japan. The 2nd one seems to take on more of a generic high school setting which annoyed some, I think 3 mitigated that somewhat and did get a fan translation eventually.

Sega does what Capcom don't.

Heard so many great things about this series, then finally got to play the remaster on PS4 and... just couldn't get into it Will give it another bash down the line, when I have nothing else to play.

Worse for me, had it on PS3 and then bought again on the PS4, abandoning both times. I played it more on the PS4 but the story presentation (and there was tooooooo much of this) was overly childish and felt very dated.

So hyped! Coming to Switch too. I kept meaning to check the reveal last night but completely forgot. Hopefully it'll deliver on some of the bold claims in the video.

A demo of the game will be available in the PlayStation Store tomorrow. I guess that a few of you Valkyria fans will be eager to test it out!

THe demo is available now on the PS Store, Xbox Store and Nintendo eShop.

Looking forward to this. I've played the first 3 games and I have to say that they do get worse and worse with each one (for those who haven't played the PSP games). The first game got the setting and characters so right but the sequels descend into the cliched world of anime tropes somewhat with crazy-looking characters, swimsuit/beach chapters and ridiculous backstories.

That said, they are still great games for having the Valkyria Chronicles gameplay at their core. VCIII is actually a little better than VCII as it deals with the "Nameless" squad (a bunch of criminals organised as a kind of penal squad to take on the dangerous, suicidal missions that the regular army won't) and has some dark moments. There is also a love triangle between the MC and two female protagonists where you eventually have to choose between them. Like I said, it dilutes what the first game did so well in a sense but is still enjoyable. Plus you get to actually play as a Valkyria in VCIII.

So yeah, I am a bit of a fan! Here is a pic of my games + the three official, monstrous artbooks.



I didn't get get around to buying Valkyria Revolution (as I kind of fell out of gaming when it was released) and I didn't bother with the HD re-release of the original because I already had all of the DLC for it on PS3 and didn't see the need to upgrade.

I hadn't seen that; looks ace! Unfortunately, I have already committed to the Soulcalibur VI collector's edition so no more big, expensive boxes for me this year I don't think

I will probably just buy the game and track down a proper, full-size artbook to go with my others (if I enjoy it enough).

I am almost certainly in the minority but I preferred the 2nd game to the 1st. I think it was the smaller mission structure combined with handheld play and a bit of grinding.

Forgot how much I liked these games. I had the original for PS3 and PC, and after playing the demo of 4, I've bought the remaster again on PS4.

Not sure which version of 4 to buy though. Switch is noticeably worse looking, and more expensive, but it's a good game for playing on the go.

The thread title got me a bit worried, but after a search online it seems a PC version was announced some time ago, and to be released at the same time as the other international versions too.

Bit of a relief 'cos I probably would have had to settle for the Switch version otherwise. Or get a PS4, which has been tempting me recently.

I think I'm with you here. II is worse in some ways, but I kinda prefer it for these reasons and the updated mechanics.

Demo was decent but I noticed this has a turn limit and I'm pretty crap at turn-based strategy games so I can't really be arsed.
