Now, instigating a DMCA takedown was a controversial move, but it was made because of the passion these guys had for their community, and the gaming community as a whole. Can you imagine Valve letting them do something like that in the future? Absolutely not.

I think this sums up the uneasy feeling from the news I've had; the reduction of independence and autonomy from moving under a company as big as Valve. A reason the main people who set up Campo Santo left Telltale was, in part, due to poor upper management that interfered in their creative decisions while profiting off their work.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with Valve buying a company to make games under them (because Valve themselves no longer make games?) but I think it's fine to be concerned that the work culture for people at Campo Santo might devolve into something more toxic because they're moving under a much bigger parent company.

I kind of feel the same, which is shows how much my estimation of Valve has fallen. I used to think Valve were the best games company in the world. I hope this is a sign that they'll going to get serious about making games of the caliber of Half Life and L4D again.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Not my fault you can’t understand the big words they use on their podcast.

Great burn. Must be disappointing to find out their self righteous posturing is a nothing more than a load of old guff.

I just find it a bit sad and pathetic that your misguided judgement of this whole thing is based on petty opinions on two people from a podcast you don't like when there's ten other people that work at Campo Santo that have nothing to do with that.

Do I need to call the wambulance guys?

I don't dislike the podcast, yeah the needless pontificating did grate at times but it was at least interesting. However they did very often delve into hollier than thou territory and would no doubt have something to say about this if someone else started their own company and cited creative freedom and escaping big developer mentality as their motivation. Good luck to them, they've made a success out of the the thing they love but they've clearly taken a big streaming gooseberry fool on their ideals.
