That and I believe they actually release the games directly on Steam as well, as does Sony these days.

It's PC gone mad!

These days, if you say you're platform exclusive, you get arrested and thrown in jail.

You have to pay for those, though. The subscriptions don’t link.

But yes, while I have a good PC, I like the idea of Steam and Gamepass sat on the toilet… especially for some of those less demanding games.

You are going to need some mega storage for all those games though…

I’m tempted by this or the OLED switch. In theory only the switch provides new games to me, but there are so many old/classic games that could work really well in this machine.

Storage seems really low these days.

I don't think I can be convinced on the control layout without holding one and verifying myself that it's workable, but unfortunately I can't imagine that situation coming up without me buying one first - which I wouldn't want to do without knowing the controls are fine!

Yep, frustrating that the base model is as low as it is, but given the cost of storage, its probably the easiest way to get that model down to just a bit more than the OLED switch. Expandable storage is nice, but it's ultimately still a hidden extra cost down the line, especially for users who may not already have other devices using micro SD cards.

Hang on... the Steam Deck does accept memory cards doesn't it? I'd kinda just assumed that it did; surely it's not fixed or am I misunderstanding?

It does accept sdcards. It won't take long for someone to confirm if you can upgrade to a larger ssd on the units tbh.

This is really awesome. I probably won't buy one, but the idea of having my PC library on the go with ease is amazing.

Ah! Ta, Xeno.

I've been out of PC gaming for many years but are games now designed to perform on all of HDD, SDD and micro SD formats?

I don't get why they're shipping a 64 Gb version. As a consumer you can buy a 256 Gb micro SD card from Amazon for £33 and I wonder why manufacturers don't budget this isn't into their products? They'd be paying far less than £33 in bulk, too. (This argument applies to things like the Switch as well as the Deck; I'm not just griping at Valve here!).

Maximising margins, but yeah. 64Gb is pitiful.

64GB is plenty - Mount and Blade Warband only needs 100MB

I think they are targeting the Switch price, not necessarily the Switch. The issue is if they did the larger sizes off the bat and not the 64GB version people would immediately go "I can get a switch for less" and not really understand what the benefits this system brings. Component prices are still rising especially in the memory market but I do think they should have eaten some of the price and made the entry model 128GB.

Am I the only one getting Gamegear vibes from the shape and size of this?

Hopefully it's battery lasts longer.
