Why have they put the controls so close to the edge of the unit? There's no way on earth I could play that for any length of time as the cramp would be awful.

The proof with anything is how it feels when you actually hold it, I've got concerns but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt ergonomics wise until there's more feedback from people who've been hands on

I do think I need more details on a few things.

They've said you can run gamepass on it? How?

SteamOS currently doesnt have any kind of integration with it as it's a custom Linux distribution. So unless MS have given them some way to do it via Linux, my feeling is that if you want to run Gamepass on it you'll need to install Windows. Which then brings with it additional system overhead and reduced performance as a result (But with a much wider range of games and software).

I also think people need to remember that this IS a PC. Yes it's running a custom OS but it's not a console, so presumably anything you can do on a PC you can do here. If you want an idea of how it's going to work you can install SteamOS to a normal PC today.

The official Dock won't be necessary either as they've said you can use any USB C hub with an HDMI port to connect to a monitor/TV.

Yeah that was me. Looks like the upcoming version of Batocera is going to have steam support which will make it even better and might make it the ideal thing to install on this.

I'm thinking about having the ability to play the Yakuza games in bed, and getting increasingly "shut up and take my money" about this whole thing.

Reservations open up at 6pm to anyone who holds a steam account with purchases made before June 2021. Anyone taking a punt on it?

Nope, if I had a huge Steam library I’d probably be much more interested but I think I have 5 or 6 games on my Steam account

I think life is telling me no. It's stuck on the review and purchase.

If I had the cash I might have taken a punt on it, but it'll probably be closer to this time next year before I can realistically swing it.

I do think I'm sold on it though.

It would probably be this time next year to get to order one. Steam is shagged.

It popped up and now says:

Your account is too new to reserve early. Reservations will open for you on Sunday July 18th, 10am PDT

I’ve had steam since April last year. Weird.

It’s probably not a bad thing, I reckon you want to wait for a revision or 2.
