That is a far more accurate picture. It's very dismissive to describe it as a selfish act.

It's still a selfish act imo, but for the reasons Clarky said I still find it tragic and I certainly don't judge Speed for doing it.

I still think it's a choice though, the biggest anyone could make save choosing life or death for another person. It's just the person making it in the case of suicide has been driven to the point where they think it's the only option.

From my experience, people at such a low point where they consider that feel they'd be doing their families a favour in some regards. They feel unfit for the world and that they'd be improving it by killing themselves.

There is talk on twitter and from the Telegraph - he was about to be outted by The Sun.

The Sun newspaper denied online accusations.
A message on the paper’s official Twitter account read: “No truth in this story. The Sun was not investigating Gary Speed in any way.”

While they would deny it, it sounds like nothing but internet rumours to me.

I agree, but I can understand why people see it as selfish.

The Sun is a vile disgusting tabloid. I hope the above statement they made is true, but it also wouldn't surprise me if it was not.

I strawberry floating hate the tabloid press with a passion but the bottom line is always that if people didn't want to read the tittle tattle they spew out then they could not exist. The public gets what the public wants etc etc.

Tbh I hope the rumours are true (about the Sun planning on outing him or whatever). Then The Sun would really be strawberry floated and hopefully cease to exist.
