Apparently they're going to stop shipping Harry Potter DVD's and Blu-Rays to retailers on December 29th, more or less right after Deathly Hallows Part 2 is actually released.
So if you were planning on getting the box set or finishing off your collection, better do it fast! I've got my Blu-Ray boxset on order from Amazon (for £32.30 it's a bargain for an 8 film blu-ray set). Though I also have the first 4 or 5 on HD-DVD.... :shifty: (The superior format!)

I will point out that this doesn't apply to digital download sales however, so you'll still be able to purchase the films via iTunes or wherever Warner Bros sell their films digitally.

Just how stupid are Warners? In an age where movie studios should be fighting piracy, they are just going to encourage it?

Kinda odd timing. They're releasing the Ultimate Editions for the first 6 films in November, with the final two coming later, so that will definitely be outside this.

Seems like they're trying to do the whole 'Disney Vault' thing. But we now live in a world where it's easier than ever to get hold of a) Pre-Owned DVDs b) Download that gooseberry fool.

TV & Movie Studios. :fp: Unless they are doing this to encourage legal downloading.... but I doubt they are.

It's just a way to get people to rush out and buy the complete box sets at the end of the year.

Seems a remarkably daft move by Warner. It'll only encourage piracy when people can only find the films for stupid money (or second hand).

Since when have films studios had any sense. These are the same people who think its right to charge more for a low quality iTunes film than a Blu Ray that has all the physical packaging and costs them gooseberry fool loads to transport.

There's a lot of money to be made flogging Harry Potter DVDs/BRs; box sets of all eight movies, special edition box sets, luxury disc and book combo box sets etc. If they're not doing that, what are they going to do? They must be getting ready to do something that's going to make them a lot money, and it must be worthwhile enough to drop DVD/BR disc production.

If they released them with a JKRowling directors commentary - I'd bite.
