What's 'spambot' and 'alt' then?

And I'm not a bloke but a female, natural blonde, blue-eyed, 35 year old school teacher. Just severely pi**ed off with the Halifax.

And married, but celibate.

Yeah banks aren't nice when it comes to making honest mistakes, but they eventually cough up charges if you complain enough.

Aaaanyways, Halifax are both gooseberry fool and alright.

A few months ago I accidentally wrote a cheque for an old account which I thought had been closed (I thought it was the cheque book from a different account), there was no money in the account and it was the one I had as a kid so there was no overdraft or anything, the cheque bounced and they charged me £35 for that and £28 for going into an unarranged overdraft, I phoned and explained my mistake and asked if I could close the account and they said I couldn't until I cleared the debt.

Fast forward 3 months and unbeknownst to me I've accrued three more £28 charges and there are another two "pending" which cannot be stopped. :x

I phoned and spoke to about half a dozen different people who all said that there was nothing I could do - I'd have to pay.

I wrote an epic letter, which was about three and a half thousand words detailing every single problem I've ever had with Halifax, about a week later a customer service manager phoned me to say they've waived all the charges, closed the account and credited my other account with £50 by means of an apology.

Hooray! \o/

Had a similar thing with Lloyds TSB. Opened up a second account with them as a safety measure in case I needed it. The stupid bastards put me onto a 'silver' account, not a current one. And I ended up being charged £3 a month for it, and yet no statements turned up and they didn't tell me of bank charges being applied.

banana splits.

You guys should pay attention more when signing up to a new account.

When opening a new account, go into the actual bank rather than doing it over the phone or whatever :fp:

I'm WELL IMPRESSED!!! Excellent result for you versus the Halifax.

Maybe there's hope, although I doubt it.

Re: The banks being bailed out - ALL of them are being supported by the government except Barclays. Listen to the News or radio, it's repeatedly referred to.

Mafro my love, did you miss the bit about me having agoraphobia - a visit to a new bank is not an option - twerp.

Errrr - Trinity, thanks for the offer but are you male or female, it's hard to tell.

Moggy, no he's not a monk, just quite a bit older and too knackered after a day at work to do anything but a quick kiss goodnight and off to his own bedroom - he snores and I fidget.
Thirteen years of marriage and we've never slept in the same bed except on one occasion! And the last!

If someone can tell me how to put a picture of myself on here for you to judge whether I'm ugly, lying or not etc, you can see for yourself - but I don't know how to do it!!

Love you guys, this is great fun.

cmjagger wrote:Re: HALIFAX ULTIMATE REWARD CURRENT ACCOUNT

DON'T sign up for this - it's a complete con, they steal £12.50 from your account each month without your signature to do so, not as a direct debit or standing order which you could cancel.
They CLAIM to give you benefits - I've tried to cancel the account and written many, many complaints and have now reached the stage where I have to refer everything to the ombudsman and to be honest - I can't be bothered.

I've been with the Halifax nearly 30 years and now I'm moving to Barclays - the Halifax is dishonest and I can prove it.

DON'T ACCEPT AN UPGRADE TO YOUR CURRENT ACCOUNT OR YOU'LL REGRET IT - AS I HAVE

What a load of bullshit. Is this another gooseberry fool spambot?

I have an ultimate reward current account and they don't "steal" £12.50 from you each month - and by the way, you did give them permission to take that payment when you signed up for the account. Did you actually read up on what that £12.50 goes towards? eg. mobile phone insurance up to £500, as well as RAC breakdown cover, home emergency cover and travel accident cover etc.

Utter, utter mong. You might want to properly read the small-print and terms & conditions before you sign up for a bank account in future. One of the worst posts I've seen on this forum.

Halifax/Bank of Scotland are a massive, massive bunch of banana splits.

I got hit with £400 worth of charges for being £30 overdrawn. I've moved to Santander and I'm currently contacting the ombudsman to fight my case. Also, Abbey off the same reward scheme for £2.50 less a month and gave me no problems when I cancelled/changed my account type.

He's male. Although yes, it can be hard to tell. he used to be called Mommy, which just made things even more confusing.

It's worth noting that you should probably take out comments with a pinch of salt. Most people here wouldn't know what to do with a woman. And for others it's been so long we can't remember.

Seriously Mafro - I'm what I said, if you tell me what an 'alt' is, maybe I can convince you, but I don't know what it is.
And like I said, if someone tells me how to put a photo of myself on here, I'll prove it to you all.

You guys are sad to be so pessimistic and unbelieving.

Trinity - forget it, you're obviously female.

Love you guys

Take a photo. Upload it from the camera to the computer. Go to www.imageshack.us, Upload the photo there. Copy the link that says 'For Forums' or something.

I realise, If this is an alt, Ive just fallen for it. But I cant risk not seeing a naive celebate grcadian.

Dear Falsey,

Well, I've done everything you told me to. I went to the Image Shack, my photo is now in there and I clicked on the 'for forums' link and there is a long code that comes up - 2 of them. But what do I do next?
I copied one of them into this GRcade reply box and I thought my photo would appear, but it hasn't so what do I do next please?

And for Christ's sake, stop asking if I'm an 'alt' when you won't tell me what an 'alt' is and now my photo is in the Image Shack, I still can't prove to you that I am what I am!

Need more info please.
