Seeing the BBC showing a bunch of keenos 'anxiously awaiting' their results LIVE made me remember my exam times. They were just something I had to do, I didn't give a gooseberry fool either way, obviously I tried my hardest in them but didn't do any revision (spent the entire preparation break time playing F1 97 on the playstation  ). I remember when the results came out, I'd forgotten about it and was at a friend's place playing cybersled ( :dread: ) when my parents rang to ask if I wanted my results, to which I relied no, but they insisted I had them read to me anyway. Couldn't have given less of a strawberry float.

Anyone else not care?

And before anyone says anything, I did better than I was supposed to and got mostly Bs when I was predicted a load of Ds like a thicko. The friend I was with had his over the phone and failed all of them, strawberry floating classic  :fp:

And that is why Ad7 drives a van. ;)

I cared about my GCSE results but at the same time I wasn't losing sleep over them. I needed certain grades to get into the Advanced GNVQ and the A Level that I wanted to do and so it was a relief that I got what I wanted.

Of course I then dropped out of college after a year and got a job instead.

gooseberry fool just realised I did my GCSE 17 years ago and forgot to get the results, do you think my school will still have them? Don't matter I will just tell everyone I got all A* that's what everyone gets now isn't it?

I would say if you haven't needed the certs by now you wont need them. I don't think I have ever had to show mine.

GCSE'S? Nah. Don't think I even revised for them, I didn't take them particularly seriously really.

Didn't start giving a strawberry float until A levels came along.

I didn't care but my dad did in a really ridiculous way comparing me to my best friend. Spent months telling me it's "how many As you get!"

My friend had a strict revision timetable and even left air cadets for a few months for them. I spent my study leave getting drunk in parks n shoplifting eyeliner. She got one A, I got 3. Overall hers were slightly better/more consistent than mine. I didn't do bad by any means. But still love to rub it in. Also my English teacher was strawberry floating raging that I chose to take it for A-Level despite being a lazy bitch who never read gooseberry fool. But I aced both exams so she literally couldn't stop me. Was right though cuz I didn't read gooseberry fool for A-Level either.

I got all C's in mine which was the max I could get due to my school so I didn't really care.

My step brother got his today and his mum who takes studying super serious has been on at him for over a year to give up all his free time to study (he doesn't want this) and she's happy with his results, 1A* a few As, a few Bs and a C, but it's only going to get worse for my step brother at A level lol.

Friend of mine was pretty much confined to his bedroom for the entirety of the study break by his parents, and when we'd call on him to go out, his mum would chastise is for not studying and say what bad results we were going to get.

I got a higher grade than him in every subject

I don’t remember caring particularly, but then I didn’t want to go to sixth form so didn’t try especially hard. I hated school, so just wanted to do the minimum and just get out. Ended up with something like one A*, one A, 2 Bs, and 5 Cs and a D (from memory) so it didn’t go so badly.

I didn't really care. I obviously wanted to do well, but never lost any sleep or cried or anything lame like some people. More or less only revised for maths and business studies. The rest a little bit and passed them all fine. Could have done much better, but they don't really matter. I got into 6th form easily. Got C's and B's.

I don't know why people worry these days. Looks like you get an A*** for just turning up.

They'll look back and wonder they ever gave a gooseberry fool, just like the rest of us. Only GCSE that mattered to me was the C I got in Science having basically taught myself because my teacher was an awful piece of gooseberry fool

I got fairly average grades for my school; 2 As, 6 Bs, 2 Cs.

Felt like a disaster at the time, especially now I look back and realise how I could have breezed them if I'd basically tried even slightly.

On the flip side, it was an important life lesson: it's possible to get by to an acceptable degree with absolutely no effort whatsoever, so why bother trying?

GCSE's are really just the thing you need to get in to sixth form or college and then they mean crap all so even if you get loads of A's by the time you've done your A levels nobody cares about gcse's. The same goes if you go to university, nobody cares that much then about your A levels which are probably pretty good if you went to university. I'd say GCSE's though are probably important more to people who don't want to go to university as they do help getting jobs with employees when you are a very young age. After you then get a job and gain more experience in work places the GCSE results are never looked at.

We were all told they were the most important things we'd ever do, but because I was a prick at school I just decided I didnt give a gooseberry fool and Id do what I wanted to. Didnt do a jot of revision at any point. We had to do mandatory coursework for ours to support the exams but it had to be done in your own free time so I didnt do any of that. As a result I was taken out of my lessons and locked in THE LEARNING BASE and forced to complete it to at least a minimum acceptable standard.

I knew I was smart enough to coast the exams anyway, and thats what I did. I didnt even know it was results day until my mates knocked round to see if I wanted to go down and get the results together. When we were there they were all discussing with the headteacher about what they were studying at A-level, and when they asked me what I was studying, she just looked at me and shook her head.

I came out with 13 GCSEs and 2 GNVQs fwiw

Since then I think one interviewer asked what I got, and nobody has ever asked to see a certificate. strawberry float knows where they are.

I found mine the other day, interesting to see what I took because it's a bit hazy. Nobody has ever asked what grades I got or what subjects I took.

I thought I cared until I saw the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Bod Brigade™ all crying because they got an A instead of an A* to complete their set of 10 A*s.

Twats. GCSEs only matter if you don't go on to get A-levels, which I did. And even then, do employers even check results? Doubtful.
