Can't remember if I posted last year but my daughter is pretty intelligent but very lazy. She wasn't doing that well so I tried to give her an incentive and said get 10 As and I'll get you an iPhone 8. Cost me £700 odd last year as she ended up with 5 A*s, 6 As and a B.

When you have two sides of A4 for a CV there is nowhere near enough space for GCSEs. I say "9 GCSE A-C including English Language and Maths" just to save space.

I got 2 As (English and IT), 3 B's (Double Science and French), 4 Cs (English Literature, Maths, Geography, and IT), and a U in technology (I submitted a coursework project consisting of half a box and a written project 24 pages short of length which began "For this project I am make a map holder")

My certificates are kept safe in my National Record of Achievement folder 8-) (the other NRA).

My CV doesn't even have my A-Levels let alone my GCSEs.

My step brother got his today and his mum who takes studying super serious has been on at him for over a year to give up all his free time to study (he doesn't want this) and she's happy with his results, 1A* a few As, a few Bs and a C, but it's only going to get worse for my step brother at A level lol.

So how did he do at A level?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Twats. GCSEs only matter if you don't go on to get A-levels, which I did. And even then, do employers even check results? Doubtful.

Someone in my history class cried when they didn't get the Standard Grade mark she expected - a 1(GCSE A equivalent up here). She got a 2, same as me. Can't have been that bad a grade - I've got a PhD in the subject now. :slol:

My GCSEs were actually the best results I ever got but I have a bachelors now and self employed so whatever lol

I was also screwed with banding though the max I could get for maths was B which sticks out because I had double A's for English and science.

My A* in English Literature is my crowning achievement, it's all been downhill since then.

Mine was probably full marks for graphic design coursework. Which on reflection looks terrible, although the monsters are great.

Or portraiture at a level.

Not really, got enough to get into college and don't think I've ever once been asked for them.

I was strawberry floating obsessed with each grade I got at uni though, despite getting a couple of distinctions I realised (through an Excel spreadsheet I cobbled together) that I was only ever going to get a 2:1 and handed in the biggest pile of crap ever as my final year project.

Edit: I once had an interview for an IT job where I had to produce my project, I didn't get the job :slol:

Since I was already planning to go onto A-Levels and then Uni I guess I wasn't too bothered. I put some more effort into the subjects I liked such as History. The only subject I was sort of concerned about was Maths because I didn't focus too much in those classes and late on I realised I didn't understand certain things at all. Ended up guessing some answers and, well, turned out that was good enough since I passed.

Good to at least pass Maths/English, and get good grades in certain other subjects where relevant for the role if you're going straight into employment instead of further education, I suppose.

I did really well in English, I get put on the tier that meant I could only get a B and although I got next to full marks on course work and mocks etc. they wouldn't change my band as the teacher "didn't want to have to teach me the extra poems I would need" (her words!)

It shows. I've often thought when reading your posts "That Errkal is good at English".

I just remembered I actually still don't know how to do long multiplication or division. Instead I just break it up into simpler arithmetic.

Yearly bump.

Bumping this every year is a great way to show that you don’t care about your GCSE results.

I never passed C or above in Maths. I'm embarrassed about it to this day.

Ended up successfully running a small finance office at one point, weirdly enough.
