The Wire's fourth season finale, and the couple of episodes leading up to it, particually:

Randy being 'eaten up by the system', and Carver's reaction

It was gutting to see the show go, but season 5's finale:

Was perhaps a bit too upbeat to make me tear up

Thank you forums user "Red" for this well-crafted response. However, if I may be so bold, perhaps on the next attempt you could contribute something other than vitriol to the thread? Thanks in advance.

Bet you cried your eyes out when your horse died in Oblivion or something.

I did explain in a later post so ... ?

I don't cry because of films, not sure of when last i did.

The Lion King always brings a lump to the throat though.

BTW: I think Anung's man thread died when FE posted about a million Swastikas. Naughty FE!

What the hell? There's nothing that's even meant to be sad in that game, and if there was I can't imagine liking the characters enough to care.

The bit when Sniper Wolf dies, and also Meryl, if you let her.

I don't normally cry when watching films or games, but that scene in the passion of the christ where Jesus is just getting beaten up for about half an hour.. that made me cry, it was just so horrific!

It's only ever the music in games that triggers a wet-faced, pathetic, feminine moment -

The end of Link's Awakening for the Game Boy Colour?

The music of the start-up menu of Halo 3, after you've just completed the whole game?

Anybody?

Do excuse me while I go and insert a tampax into my big girl's vagina.

The graveyard scene at the end of Saving Private Ryan gets me everytime.
I did cry when I first played through MGS1 but that was years ago and the end of MGS3 and 4 got me a bit choked up as well. Apart from that can't think of anything at the moment.

Se7en, when Morgan Freeman says to Gwyneth Paltrow -

If you... don't keep the baby, if that's what you decide, then, never tell him you were pregnant. I mean that. Never.

But, if you do decide to have the baby, then, at that very moment, when you're absolutely sure, tell David. Tell him at that exact second, and then spoil that kid every chance you get.

Gwyneth Paltrow's face at that one point in the movie - I have to shed the tears back!

Plenty and plenty of moments in Good Will Hunting:

When Robin Williams 'fixes' Will in the office, and he starts crying.

When Chuck goes up to the door, and realises that Will's left.

The monologue as Will recites the letter written to Robbin William's, and then Miss Missery comes on to the final shot of the car.

What. A. Film.

And definitely the end of The Shawshank Redemption, without a doubt. I know someone's mentioned it but it's brilliant hearing the letter recited, to see Morgan Freeman walking up to beach to Andy.

Plenty of others.

Definitely a few songs as well, though this one seems to have been most prominent on first listening:

Short Circuit 2 when Johnny 5 gets tricked by that guy and then he gets beaten up and is dying. Made me well up when I was a kid and still brings a lump to my throat too. Also the Notebook, very good film and also very sad. Thats about it though!

Green Mile when they kill john coffey and when he is explaining why he is ready to die.

Brokeback mountain when they are by the lake and Ennis breaks down and when he finds the shirts!

Off the top of my head, I cried a few times when Max died in Hollyoaks, that was really well directed.

The only games to manage it are MGS 4 - When you think Snake has killed himself , Gears of War 2 - When Dom has to kill Maria, I was damn close in Shadow of the Colossus too - When Argo dies.

Now I'm as emotional as the next guy, but honestly, anyone who cries at the Metal Gear Solid games needs to have a good look at their life. For crying out loud, man up.

The only game that has come close to making me cry was actually Yoshi's Island, and this wasn't because it was sad, but was actually because it was so happy that the sheer amount of fun slightly overwhelmed me. To be honest, and some people won't agree with this, but I don't think games have reached the point yet where crying at them is really socially acceptable.

I had a massive gooseberry fool the other day. It ripped out several bum hairs on the way out, making my ass bleed. That brought a tear to my eye.

You genuinely surprise me with that one, MCN. I always had you down a tough guy, a bit of a hard-nut. Still, I know what you mean - poor old Freddie was dreadfully ill by then and very close to the end. I was gutted when he passed away. Very upsetting, although I was never a big Queen fan (just a big queen).

A few years later I ventured down a small sunlit back street in deepest Kensington and quietly paid my respects at 1 Logan Square, where the door to his old house had been covered with handwritten messages of love from friends from all over the world. It was very moving. Funny how someone like that can still be missed...

45 is no age, and he did bring us some of the best music ever (FACT). Shocking to think that it was only the day after he'd admitted to having Aids that he died. 1 strawberry floating day.

:?

You're telling people to grow up who cry over a story that's meant to be moving (and is) while you're crying over Yoshi's Island?

:|

Anyway, I've never fully cried but tear jerking moments include:

MGS4 Otacon telling Sunny Snake isn't coming back and Snake pulling the trigger
24 S5 Edgar's death. It was Chloe's tearful reaction that really struck a chord.
Grim Fandango When I played this I was very young and I was devastated Glottis didn't go with Manny to the Ninth Underworld. :lol:Also, I can't listen the to song 'Manny & Meche' without getting teary.

Videogames can be even more emotional than movies. So :? at everyone who thinks we are pussies. The character may not be real, but they seem real and you spend much more time with them. I grew up with Metal Gear Solid and Solid Snake was my childhood hero, so it was only natural that the end of MGS4 would make me cry.
