well the reason they don't do that is because a gif would look gooseberry fool and run slow, take ages to download.

They've probably built something in HTML5/css3/canvas/jquery stuff which is on the way in to replace Flash which won't run on iOS. I didn't look at the source. I know there are apps surfacing that help "designers" author this kind of thing without any HTML knowledge though.

Drop me your company name via PM if you want, I work for a video marketing company and we're moving into that space, looking for partners, competitor research etc.

Edit: Yup can always count on Adobe to drop their product names in the HTML. Adobe Edge Animate. Got this on a subscription through work and it's interesting to see it being used in the wild randomly already: http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/

Gonna learn it, be awesome and then maybe make that a responsibility at work since it's more fun.

Has anyone here had a comings/goings with http://website.1and1.co.uk? I'm not the best with this web-stuff and this looks fairly idiot-proof.

£10 a month?

Just use Wordpress.com, which is designed for anybody.

Also it says "Be successful on the Internet" on the page, which means it's an instant fail.

BTW good hosting is only £4 a month and you can do 1-click installs for various software. Including proper Wordpress, which is pretty idiot proof and you can buy a million themes from somewhere like ThemeForest without them looking like something from 1995.

Please don't use the 1&1 builder. All of the designs on this page are terrible.

I hate to say it but you're probably better off within something like Wix.com if you want something idiot proof that at least doesn't look like turd, although that doesn't mean your site will be sensible to navigate or other key things unless you have a knack for designing logically laid out documents or forms or something already.

That made me laugh out loud.

I think it would be worth my while to fiddle about with a Wordpress a bit and figure out what I'm actually doing, rayher than rushing something out sub-par.

Thanks Gecko.

You can use Wordpress.com or you can get the same thing with more flexibility and ability to learn to manage stuff over FTP and lots of things if you get one of these packages.

They're pretty decent for pure hosting though as I've been using 1&1 for over 15 years now and their 'unlimited' package is £6 per month. Good admin panel, fast connections and I haven't seen them go down in a long time.

The trouble with a company like 1&1 is that you are no-one to them, but yes, generally they are "to par". But so are a gazillion other services.

I think for actual web hosting you want a flexible service foremost you can phone up and get stuff fixed. If you have massive bandwidth needs you can call on something like Amazon S3 for those particular kinds of files or specialised services e.g. video hosting.
