I'm not really sure what a 'racing driver image' is these days anyway.

ITV news just asked Hamilton the most horrifically worded question culminating in whether or not he feels like he gets the feeling that he's a less popular driver than he should be for his achievements because he's black. He took the question like a champ in all fairness - I have no idea how I'd have reacted to such an awfully worded question :fp:

I accidentally misread champ as chimp there for a second :fp:

It's been explained several times why it isn't 'daft'. Peculiar? Yes.
Perhaps a season on season approach would be better with sports threads.

I respectfully disagree, I don't see a 200 page thread as anymore appealing to a newbie than a 1500 page thread.

That said, I'll of course abide by the rules and this thread will change to a season by season approach shortly (when McLaren announce their 2015 line up).

Could always compromise and say in the title (or edited first post) at which page Season 2015 starts on.

Yes?

It isn't all about being appealing to new people, it is also about being appealing to search engines. If a thread is massive and old it has a low rating in terms on content, if a thread is new it gets a better score as it new and more active and so will be more likely be used in search results higher up the listings and so is more likely to be seen by new members.

Really the 200 page rule is a bit daft it should be that threads refresh periodically and the appropriate time frame is set on a per thread basis, the basic idea though is that is means more thread creation which mean more "new" content which looks better to search engines making it more likely we are featured on listing etc. and increases the chances of us being found by new people.

It didn't take long for the Guardian to put a 'people don't like Hamilton because he's black' article out there. It's so predictable/depressing.

Hamilton has warmed to me a bit though over the last few days. Won't be cheering for him next season (I'm sure he'll be devastated) but he's slightly more likable than he was.

Jenson is a very charismatic guy and SED perfect for presenting F1 coverage in the future - as many people have said. On the other hand, when he blabs on about his triathlons (LOL GO ICHIBAN TEAM) it is suicidally boring. He hasn't done it for a while, thankfully; more important issues to deal with, perhaps.

The whole Hamilton-not-liked-coz-he-is-black thing is just so stupid. On numerous occasions he's acted like a total dick. That said, the way the season and final race ended amicably between him and Nico was really nice to see.

Vergne has tweeted that he won't be at Toro Rosso next year. More paddock-wide known news officially broken

Being a fair weather fan of button we went to try to get his autograph at the top of the hill at goodwood.

Didn't even crack a smile, skipped past me several times even though I was being polite and didn't say a word to anyone :|

Massa on the other hand seemed nice as did Anthony Davidson.

Hmm, I can kind of understand that tbh. If you'd been outside the entrance and asked him as he was arriving - or asked him on a street away from too many people he might have been more open to signing the autograph.

But while he was inside the event itself (and mingling with some friends/guests I imagine) I'd probably have done the same as him.

We were in an area specifically there for autographs and his minder passed him a pen before walking him over to us

Say what you want about Hamilton, but he clearly does have a close affinity with his fans, some of the videos on his Twitter account with them are painfully cringeworthy though.

If you are missing racing while F1 is away, Formula E season continues over the winter. Next stop, Punta Del Este, Maldonado, Uruguay

Beach race!!
