Great news F1 Radio clampdown scrapped from 2015 rules. Drivers & engineers allowed to talk unrestrictedly about whatever they like.
Double points and standing SC-starts also scrapped.

Amazing news! Hopefully that's the last we hear of mental ideas in F1 for a while.

Apparently Hulkenberg will be racing a Porsche 919 at next year's Le Mans 24h.

What about 3-car teams? I'm not sure what to make of it. Do any of you have any thoughts on it?

As a temporary measure I can go with it but I wouldn't want too see it stay that way.

They could do it, but it would need some serious thought. A customer car system may be an option but there are all sorts of complications.

Its a tough one, in terms of cost control it may be worth them having a similar system to how Indycar works, although that would be very controversial and be a massive change in the core principles of the sport.

Maybe having a third car but unable to score constructors points on that car could work. But then it would be blocking points another team would need. Williams would likely be the worst hit as they wouldn't be able to field a 3rd car an would have potentially another 3 high budget cars to compete against. Below Williams, not many would really be able to compete.

I like the idea that new teams and teams that gang scored say 6th or more in the championship in the last 3 seasons or something can be customer after that they become a constructor it then gives them time to start slow and build the business up so that when they have you start being there own constructor they have had the time to learn the world of the sport and get backers and the right staff and structures.

Interesting stuff. Still undecided. It might make the championship more interesting with at least a 3-way fight even in the event of a season with a dominant team such as this year.

I really don't like the idea of customer cars but aren't Torro Rosso kind of already one?

They sort of used to be but not anymore. Used to use the Red Bull car from the previous season but they make their own car every year now.

Ferrari could be the decline of Vettel. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It's already damaged kimi's stock and he's one of the best drivers, so just think what's going to happen to one of the least good of the best drivers.

Does Kimi have much stock? I know he's appreciated as a decent driver but it seems to me that no one really suspected him to do anything at Ferrari as he hardly set the world alight at Lotus. Even his WDC is glossed over a bit as a bit of an accident.

 Are you serious? I don't think anyone at Lotus would agree with you. He basically turned the team around within two years.

The problem with Ferrari is that they like to develop naturally understeery cars. Have done for years now. I'm not really sure why. Kimi and Vettel's driving styles are quite similar. They like a car with a strong turn in to turn through the corner as quickly and efficiently as possible. The fact that Vettel is joining gives me hope that they will have to drop their pullrod suspension (there's a strawberry floating reason why no other team on the grid uses it) and stop making understeering cars because, otherwise, they're going to end up with a car which doesn't suit either driver.

Either way, at this stage it's hard to imagine anyone but Mercedes being firmly on top again, next season. I really hope that's not the case. If it can't be Ferrari, I hope Bottas can mount a serious challenge for the title.

The whole time they run a Mercedes engine they wont beat Mercedes. They have to run with less power than Mercedes so the chances of them beating them are slim. Really we needs more engine manufacturers but as it is it wont happen. Horners idea of a twin turbo normal V6 engine would make that better as the engines are closer to "normal" engines and so provide befit for the engine manufacturer.

A mate of mine came up with the idea of having two options, the current turbo with KERS / TERS etc. and one thats a normal V6 with twin turbo with only the old KERS option or none which I quite liked the idea of.

3 car teams would only be good if no team orders. With team orders it could be impossible to stop 1 driver continuously take the title in a dominant team.

Yes?

That's pretty tame really, it only looks bad initially as the bodywork all just pops off.
