I take it you’re not like me in that you have to put Factor 50 on every exposed surface when the sun peeks its head out then. Throwing on another layer is infinitely more preferable.

To be fair, I do see both sides. I have SAD, so when it goes gloomy and dark my mood takes a downturn. But when it’s blazing hot I can’t sleep and sweat a bunch (look away now ladies), and there’s a limit to the number of layers I can take off. Can always put more on!

TL;DR: Roll on the few days of autumn sunshine.

I'm exaggerating for effect to a degree, but it's more the kids side of things that's frustrating now.

When it's sunny going out with the family is as easy as stepping out the door, now that the rain has returned it's a nightmare to get everyone to locate and put on the various layers required to make the trip bearable!

You could argue that hot weather also leads to idiotic drivers. Everyone's going to be staying out at the pub and in the gardens longer and later, and extreme temperatures could lead to people not sleeping well, resulting in lapses in judgement. I've always found that people seem to drive worse when it's sunny because everyone's like "YES IT'S SUNNY WINDOWS DOWN SUNGLASSES ON LETS HAVE A GOOD TIME" and they're too busy enjoying themselves to realise they're not staying in their own lane/driving into oncoming traffic/pulling out in front of someone at a roundabout, etc.

This. I burn so easily, 5 minutes in the sun without factor 50 on turns me into a lobster.

I'd rather spend a couple of minutes applying factor 50 than half an hour scouring my house for alternate clothing because I didn't realise I needed my scuba gear to take the dog for a walk in strawberry floating august!

In reality I do appreciate that different weather conditions present us all with different challenges, it's just this is the defacto "weather" thread at the moment so it's the best place to respond to all the sun haters with some rain banter! :P

Interestingly after a quick google it seems there is some research to suggest that fewer accidents do indeed occur when it is wet: Weather Effects on Daily Traffic Accidents and Fatalities: A Time Series Count Data Approach.

I still think I personally see more idiots in the wet than the dry, but that's because behaviour that I would class as more acceptable in dry conditions - going 90 on the motorway etc. is strawberry floating ridiculous in the rain yet those people don't adjust their behaviour accordingly!

Not to mention all the drivers who turn their music’s volume right up, wind down the windows, and let you feel the basslines from the 11th floor!

I'm confused about this supposed heatwave that the media (only the right wing sensationlist one's mind) seem to be going on about. Where exactly is it going to be warm? The warmest I can find for the next week is London at 24c and that's mostly the urban heat effect. Looks like 20-22c in most places in the middle and south of the country.
