Thanks, STAR. They would be handy although I live in a flat and our windows must be uniform in appearance (which I agree with).

I have the curtains closed but the temperature has gone up to 85F :dread: . I'm just wearing pants but I'm still sweating :dread: :dread: .

Yeah sounds horrible. I've spent a small fortune sorting my house out to cope better with the heat. I had a large conservatory on the back which essentially acted as a furnace warming the house up, i replaced the glass roof with a light weight tiled roof with roof vents. Massive difference. I've changed my bedroom window as the previous window only had two small openers. So small my 8 year old wouldn't even fit out of them. So you couldn't get any air in the room at all. But living in a flat you can't do a lot about it unfortunately so i feel for you.

Those changes sound neat, dude, especially the conservatory update. I like my flat because it is very light but, yeah, in this hot weather it's a bit of a struggle. Luckily, TWA is streaming Doctor Who classic episodes tonight so that'll divert my attention :-) .

25 in the hour according to Hive so not too bad, quite glad this house stays cool enough in summer and warm enough in winter without too much intervention.

Now for an evening of the sun shining directly into the room...

I feel your struggle, Vermilion. It's hit 29C / 84F in my living room :dread: .

The only solution really to the sun shining directly into your room is external shutters. The front of my house, where my bedroom is also faces west so i get the sun at the end of the day, meaning it heats up when right before you want to go to bed, making my room the hottest in the house. However external shutters seems to be a rarity in this country. They are very common across Europe and are fantastic but here your house would look odd with them as no one uses them.

I've used those types of shutters in some of the continental hotels i've stayed at, and yes, they really do seem to work.

Well its certainly toasty outside today, luckily the aircon was on form at work today :D Same can't be said for my car though, the climate control seems to have picked its opportune moment to not work quite as well, hopefully it just needs a re-gas of sorts.

I have no aircon in my car.

I was going to get a thermometer to test the temperature in the car on the way home from work but I suspect it would have just melted!

Would be interesting to see just how hot your car gets being parked up all day in the sun, externally my car was reading 32 c, quickly dropped to 27/8 though! Steering wheel took an age to cool down though! :(

I dread to think how hot it actually was. :dread:

I arrived late today so any car parking spots that have any kind of shade throughout the day were long gone, and the drive itself is mostly motorway so it's basically full on sun all day long!

There's only a handful of spots in my car park which are actually under cover, even then they only cover probably about a 1/3 of car so not much good really! Sounds like a lovely commute when the suns beating down almost constantly :dread:

This is getting strawberry floating ridiculous now. On the plus side, it doesn't feel very humid like it usually would. Dry heat is infinitely better.

We have air conditioning in our office that can be localised and it goes all the way down to 16° :datass: it's incredible.

It's really bloody humid here, not a breath of wind so open windows are making no difference at all. Feels like the heating is on full.

Where are you? Are you abroad or am I thinking of someone else.

Normally humidity comes hand in hand with the warmer weather in the UK but today hasn’t been humid at all where I am also looking at the forecast for the rest of the week it doesn’t look too humid.

Protip: Opening the windows in one room does strawberry float all. You need to open one on either side your house make sure there's unrestricted airflow between them.

I placed a large pot bowl full of water in the cat aviary so they could have a slash about and one of them got completely in it, so I think I need to get them some sort of swimming pool because apparently unlike other cats Bengals enjoy a swim

That swimming pool will need emptying, cleaning and refilling everyday.

If they did, they’d probably be the best swimming pools in the world.

Oh no wait, that’s Carling.

Apple invented water you know.

I drove in today, it's too strawberry floating hot for that ride home.
