Were Nickelodeon & Cartoon Network better in the 90s?

Noticing comments on YouTube & various places that the output on these channels these days apparently sucks. Is this simply nostalgia getting in the way, or has children's programming gone drastically downhill? While the likes of Sister Sister (what did become of these two?), Keenan & Kel, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Angry Beavers, Rugrats, & Johnny Bravo dominated then, that's been replaced with All Grown Up (which I think is the follow on to Rugrats by the looks of things), Drake & Josh, Jimmy Neutron, iCarly (this always seems to be on every single night for hours on end whenever I check the schedules) & SpongeBob SquarePants.

Don't know about Nickelodeon, but Cartoon Network is pretty good these days with the new Thundercats and Clone Wars.

There was a spell in the 90s of excellent output by Cartoon Network, Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Cow and Chicken etc.

I don't think the creativity is there any more, not that I watch that much kid's TV.

Children's TV has gone down hill since 1999.

I watched the Adam West episode of Johnny Bravo the other day and it's gotten much funnier now that i'm older. Also watched some Cow And Chicken a while ago too, how they got away with some of the stuff in that show i'll never know. I'm not sure about the Nickelodeon stuff, but Cartoon Network in the 90s was great tv so i'm not surprised the standard has dropped.

Nickelodeon has always been crap in my opinion.

The Glory Days of Cartoon Network are over. Far too much crappy Cow and Chicken and Megas XLR on there last time I checked.

Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, and of course...

Samurai Jack. 8-)

It's probably more that we didn't realise how gooseberry fool the programmes were when we were ten.

Those are the funny parts? I'd hate to see the rest of it.

I never watched Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, but did see some of the shows on other channels. Only Keenan & Kel and Sabrina (bizarrely) were any good, out of those listed.

Nickelodeon used to be really good in the 90s with Kenan and Kel, Sister Sister and Sabrina etc. used to love the Watch Your Own Weekend and Watch Your Own week during the summer hols. These days it just seems to suck with repeats of crap shows.

In general though childrens TV seems pretty poor these days. The days of Woof, Maid Marion and her Merry Men, Grottbags seem like a golden era. I guess with the internet kids just have a lot more to do these days than just watch TV.

Watch this episode, still pretty damn funny IMO. Just noticed it was co-written by Seth McFarlane too.

Between Japan and Nickelodeon they've ruined cartoons forever. I look at the stuff on the cartoon network now and it's utter trash. Thank god for the good stuff on Boomerang.

But it's hilarious!

"How many times do I have to tell you, I have a boyfriend!"

"Well you look like the type of girl that could use two"

The cheesiness, the constant stream of terrible one-liners & innuendo...

Heathen

Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, Doug, Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Pete & Pete, Sister Sister, Keanen and Kel, The Secret World of Alex Mack,

And to a lesser extent Clarissa Explains It All, Catdog, Hey Arnold. Big shout out to Spongebob, closet Nick have got to capturing the magic. It's actually really funny the brief times I have had a quick glimpse at it

As for kids TV, who can forget the run of Saved By The Bell, California Dreams, Hang Time

Cartoon Network used to be incredible shows too; Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel

I used to watch a ton of TV

The best episode of Johnny Bravo is when he meets up with Scooby Doo and the Gang.
