I love coffee and seem to drink a whole hell of a lot.

At work I use an Aerobie Aeropress link which is really brillaint coffee production for the cost. It's been a bit of a reveleation that I can use it to make good quality black coffee at work with just this funny bit of plastic and a kettle.

At home I have a Gaggia Classic and seperate grinder setup. It's my second model when the first one broke after 10 years of service. The grinder has been gone 8 of those years. I managed to get a nearly new machine from eBay for £75. I'd love to upgrade to a Rancilio Silva but can't really justify spending the money.

Coffee I'm currently drinking is called Mrs Atha's Little Tipple - the house blend of a local coffee shop. It has roast dates on the bag and they are supplied fresh roast each week, which really helps to keep the coffee awesome tasting.

I see you don't employ the "upside down" aeropress method. It's much better, I'm not sure why they recommend making coffee with it the way they do.

I do, the stock picture was just to show the Aeropress working for others.

I do sometimes use the standard push down to get a less intense coffee taste (a couple of hours before bed for instance).

Ah, never mind then.

Was in a charity shop yesterday and I found a tradital hob-top Moka pot espresso/coffee maker. Having never used one and a grand cost of £5 I thought I'd give it a go. Really impressed with the results. By no means the quickest production method but for a long Americano coffee (when mixed with near boiling water) it makes a lovely cup of coffee. As I leave my Aerobie at work I think I may use it in the morning and dont want to wake the girlfriend with the Gaggia.

Friend ran out of Twinings English Breakfast but had some Tesco black tea (loose) lying around. Turned out to be pretty good.

Ordered my nespresso machine yesterday. Have to wait for it to arrive to get a serial number before I can order pods. Heard about waitrose doing their own brand ones so might pick some up to tide me over till I can get a delivery.

Lapsang Souchong, which I keep pronouncing Lapsang Schlong is just vile.

I've been drinking several cups a day. Much to the disgust of my fellow staff and patients who refer to it as 'smelly tea'. Did pick up some glass mugs/latter cups from home bargains the other day for 99p a pack. They keep tae warm without being too scaldy to hold. And look pretty sweet too.

Also 20% off those coffee pods for the nespresso machines in waitrose, do works out around 20p a cup. Only smooth and intense varieties, but it'll tie me over and act as emergency stuff between deliveries.

Has anyone been to this new Harris & Hoole, Tesco-backed coffee chain?

Went today. £3 for a large latte, about 2/3rds the size of a large at Costa (which costs £2.65). It was pretty much cold when I drank it about 5 mins later and wasn't even that great.

Not hugely impressed.

I remember hearing on the radio some very salty customers when they were told their new favourite independent coffee shop was actually part owned by TESCO.

Yeah, I went to the one in Crouch End recently. I too wasn't very impressed. They seem to have spent more time on the design of the place, desperately trying to make it is as quirky as possible, and forgot to get the coffee right.

Doubt I'll be going in again. Nice mugs though which are for sale. You can tell for a new place they've had a massive financial backing.

Can you buy pre-ground coffee for an espresso machine? Is there a name for it, or something to differentiate it from cafetiere coffee?
