Wake up
Go downstairs and open presents, tend to get smaller piles each year but it's still nice to get anything.
Have a bacon or sausage sandwich
Have visits from some family members
Watch crap
Christmas dinner
Watch more crap
Go to my Nan's
Go to my mates house as he usually has a get together and have a few drinks

I absolutely love Christmas as I tend to be able to revert back to a child if just for a day. This year's going to be even better as my girlfriend is staying at mine too.

Perhaps you'd enjoy a happier Christmas if you focused more on goodwill towards your fellow man, and less on excessive merry-making. Instead of spending the day in a foul temper thanks to your own alcoholic misadventures, why not forego the questionable pleasures of the bottle and take the opportunity to spend some quality time with your parents / partner / pet, who after all, only have your best interests at heart? I'm sorta kidding around here, but like all the best comments on internet message boards there is also some faint kernel of truth here. I'm glad we had this little talk.

I spend quality time with my family/partner and pet all year round. I just get fed up of everyone making such a big deal about Xmas so far in advance that it just irritates me. Being drunk allows me to avoid xmas which I like.

Being drunk also allows you to avoid reality. But only for so long, my friend. Before you know it you're slumped in front of the telly watching quiz shows at 3 o'clock in the morning, drinking wine straight from the box and privately rueing your descent into dipsomania.

- Wake up early, probably around 7am.
- Open presents.
- Have bacon sandwich and cup of tea for breakfast.
- Enjoy presents.
- Go over to my Gran's, for Christmas dinner.
- Lounge about.
- Go and see my uncle. He never comes round for Christmas dinner.
- Go home.
- Play games and stuff.
- Watch Doctor Who.
- Play moar games and stuff.
- Sleep.

Cannot. Wait. I love Christmas. :D

Well, my perfect christmas would be:

  • Don't wake up

But it'll probably be:

  • Get up
  • Sit around making small talk and dance around the awkward silences (It's only me at home for christmas this year with my parents, and my dad loathes crimbo as it is)
  • Eat a christmas dinner consisting of dry as strawberry float turkey, and overcooked veg
  • Drink
  • Eat cheese
  • Bed

Lewis, I think it's time you initiated an incestuous relationship with your mother.

I've also told everyone to not buy me any presents.. instead make a donation to charity on my behalf instead.

So the only present I'll be getting this year is from my GRc Secret Santa....no pressure.

Dad doesn't let me.
I once cooked Duck for christmas dinner and he complained that I strayed away from a traditional dinner too much.

You could make the stuffing then - have it in the shape of a Christmas pudding, it'll be awesome.

I always used to feel ill on Crimbo Day for some reason. Not anymore though.

It's gooseberry fool, because I love Christmas, but I always seem to wake up on the day feeling like gooseberry fool. Only once in the last 9 or so years I've been well on Christmas.

 Unlucky. We're having duck this year. I prefer duck to turkey.

Should be mint.

I don't get the concept of awkward silences around your parents. Surely you know your folks so well you don't have to put on any kind of pretence, you can just be yourself; can't the silence be a contented, companionable one rather than a tense, oppressive quiet?

I'm just typing stuff for the sake of it here, I agree with what I'm saying in spirit but I booze all the time and spending time with my folks is a baffling ordeal, they are mental. I'm just holding out some hope that not everyone's in the same boat as me.

My dad rarely eats beef or pork. Never eats lamb, and doesn't like Duck, veal or venison..

And you recommend goose? :D

I think we know why you're the only one having Christmas with your parents now, Lew... everyone else had the good sense to get the hell out of that hell hole.

Apologies for this, Lewis, but what kind of a man is your dad? I'm hardly the most manly of men but I love my meat.

Wait....
