I was at my parent’s place over the weekend and found a load of old gaming stuff I had boxed away. There’s so much it’s ridiculous, but I’m loathe to throw it out. I’m not talking about consoles and games necessarily, just...stuff.

Magazines (strawberry floating tonnes of them :dread:), game guides, cheat books, demo discs, soundtracks, magazine freebies (which covers all kinds of things..playing cards, inflatable characters/items, posters, etc), third-party controllers/accessories...

What do you do with all this kind of stuff? Throw it out? Keep it boxed away? Try and sell it?

Ideally I’d keep it all, for nostalgic reasons mainly, but part of me thinks that’s a bit stupid, and I don’t really have the space/want to use the space for that.

What about you lot?

Bin them. Only keep the best ones.

I had a cupboard full of old gaming mags, EDGE, PC Gamer and OPSM but binned the lot last year.

Still have drawers full of old 3rd party and official peripherals, demo disks and other gaming tat.

Maybe I should bin them as well then. It's not like anyone's going to want shitty cheat books and posters. Feels somehow wrong though. :slol:

When I got my own place I threw out hundreds of copies of old gaming mags. I get sad just thinking about it, as I'm talking 300+ here. :(

I actually recycled my old mags, they wouldn't all fit in our recycling bin though, had to stack then next to it.

I pretty much just stick them in the recycling bin. Buy the odd mag for breaks in work but chuck it out when realise I will never read it again despite being pretty pricey.

Put them in The Trading Post, I'm sure if you have anything that is of interest to anyone they'll pay you for postage.

Erm I keep all of it, but no way near as crazy as some of the people here, it would fit in 1 large cupboard.

Chuck it away. It is difficult at first but once you've detached yourself from the grasp of nostalgia and materialism you will never have that issue again. Free your mind.

I threw some magazines away (mainly from the PSone era), later regretted it, so now keep them all. I find it a great resource. For example when I got Crash Bandicoot 2 on the PS Store, I dug out Official PlayStation magazine, read the previews and review, and even re-played the demo disc. Just kinda helps in taking you back in time really & getting the whole experience.

I don't have much gaming merchandise at all (a Lara Croft TR2 statue from the late 90s, which as far as I'm concerned is the greatest thing ever released and still looks the dogs bollocks on the shelf; Sackboy soft toy Sony sent me; PSone rucksack Sony also sent me; Gran Turismo 5 leather wallet, which I use every day...that is pretty much it). HATE posters - maybe if they were available without a crease some of them over the years would have looked nice framed, but as they do they go straight in the bin. Cheats books were all binned upon purchase.

I keep everything. Just keep moving to bigger and bigger houses to accommodate it.
