A Starbucks latte in the morning, a couple of cups of PG throughout the day, a Tassimo latte when I get in from work, then a bottle of chardonnay before bed. Every day apart from weekends (though the wine rule still applies).

I'm kinda curious as to how people consume tea. Do you use teabags? Do you add sugar or milk? What's a person likely to get when they ask for a cup of tea in the UK?

Black no sugar, tea bag stays in the mug.

I'm drinking way too much soft drink at the moment.

Probably averaging a litre a day of the full sugar variety (cannot stand diet soft drinks, they are universally awful). Definitely something I need to cut down on, or probably cut out entirely to be fair. Beyond that it's water, squash and the odd fruit juice so not too bad there.

Never had either tea or coffee as the smell of both puts me off. Rarely drink alcohol, I'd imagine it averages out at about a handful of pints and glasses of wine in a year.

Moved to Coke Zero as my main drink that isn't water but I still need to cut that gooseberry fool out of my diet. Very rarely (maybe once a year) I'll have a coffee and I avoid tea at all costs.

On the high-street it's nearly always PG Tips or Tetley in a bag (usually on a string) with UHT milk and sugar on the side, which is why I rarely have it. Coffee is always the better, albeit more expensive, option. In my experience to get a good cup of tea using leaves you've got to be in a decent hotel or upmarket cafe.

At home I have Clipper/Sainsbury's Organic or Twining's (bagged) with milk and 1 sugar. Occasionally I'll buy Twining's loose breakfast tea and put it in the Bodum teapot. It tastes vastly superior but it's a faff.

Oh, thank you. That's very informative. I'm gonna try drinking tea with milk though both milk and sugar at the same time might be a bit overkill for now.

Do you also have Turkish delight with it? And the fortune-telling bit? :P

I like my tea strong, when I can really be bothered I have Assam leaf stuff in a pot with a built in strainer, then let it brew but normally I don't time / can't be arsed / am at work and have just pg stuff so the bag has to stay to get the strength up.

2/3 spoon of sugar and yorkshire teabag in mug, add water, stir, remove spoon, allow to brew for 40 secs to a minute, add splash of milk, stir, leave for another 10 to 20 secs, drain bag but not too firm, stir, leave cool for a min, drink.

The best tea I had though was when I was a kid at my nans and we'd brew loose leaf in a teapot. Pure effort nowadays though.

Usually I just drink water, tea and maybe a can of Pepsi Max.

I don’t drink alcohol at home and so only really drink if I go out (which is a very rare occurrence nowadays!). Usually beer or cider until I am drunk and then I’ll drink anything I can get my hands on.

All the Pepsi Maxi. I'm probably personally keeping that company profitable.

I don't drink fizzy drinks unless its as a mixer with spirit.

On a normal day I'll drink a lot of tea, normally at least 3 cups. A barocca water thing, and normally 1-2 litre of water by itself. I wee a lot.

In terms of alcohol. I'll consume wine if out with a lady or...at home visiting my mum. Otherwise I tend to just have beer, probably about 4-6 beers a week. I normally have 3-4 days without alcohol each week...not too bad i don't think.

I am also fond of whisky.

I love the smell of both.

Tea doesn't actually smell that strongly once brewed and milk is added to it.

Yeah not sure why it is but for whatever reason the smell of both tea and coffee just really turns me away, coffee in particular. It is a bit annoying not drinking either as I constantly find myself in social situations or work meetings where they are the only option provided!

A full bottle of wine every night? Do you not feel groggy as gooseberry fool most mornings? Wed-Sun I probably average three beers, anything more than that and I'd be struggling through work.

Nah, I'm generally fine the morning after - up at 6:30. This can be effected by skipping an evening meal, which I'm prone to do at least one night a week, but never to the point where I feel particularly impeded by grogginess.
