I just get general gaming news from here, and Overwatch news from r/Overwatch. (I chat about games all the time to IRL friends too, so I get news that way as well.) I don't regularly consume any other games media.

Pretty much just GRcade. I don't play an awful lot and my games are a few generations old.

None. I don't know how they work or what they're like :fp:  .

bloody hell

I missed that.

Jawa, a podcast is like a radio show wireless programme - do you remember the little box you used to listen to Vera Lynn on? Ok, a podcast is like that, except you use a computer or a phone internet connected device - one of those things you see the kids using. This lets you listen to people talking and you can choose when to listen to it, rather than waiting for the right time for the show to come out of the little box that plays Vera Lynn.

... . I was exaggerating for effect :) . I know how the work, but I have genuinely never listened to them - bar that single GR one that, I think, Cheeky Dev had made available in a video format.

Magazines:

None since the early 2000s. I remember loving me a bit of PC Gamer back in the day but since the early noughties the price, and lack of demos, has made them utterly unattractive.

Websites:

RockPaperShotgun - it's not as good as it used to be, but it's still the best written gaming site on the net. I'm a bit concerned about their future now however, as they've been sold off to The Gaming Network

Eurogamer
- Good for reviews and news, not so hot for OpEds and comment pieces

Waypoint - A new kid, they don't do reviews but their opinion pieces are often great, if a bit cerebral.

Podcasts:

Waypoint - The best out there bar none, and it's only a few months old. A great crew with an incredible knowledge of games and the games media

Daft Souls - I don't listen to this anymore as Waypoint has blown it away, but it was OK once. It's far too whacky and surface level however.

Videos

Waypoint - I don't usually do streams, but these are good. They also have some interesting mini-vids about certain games and mechanics

Eurogamer - The recent stream of Star Trek Bridge crew was quite, quite excellent and their LTTP playthroughs are great.

Angry Joe - I know I know. But still, he's actually quite an astute reviewer if you can get through the Millennial baiting shouty bits.

Gaming With Character: Because

Videogamer - Not the new stuff, god no, but the older late 2015-early 2016 stuff is still strawberry floating gold.

I would say I spend more time playing games than consuming media around them. Most of the time I'm on forums is during work hours.

Magazines
Edge (rarely)
GamesTM (very rarely)
OPM (very rarely)

I only buy magazines to read on the train, which I get every two weeks on average, but most of the time I read New Scientist as opposed to gaming magazines. Last time I bought Edge was the BOTW release issue. OPM was for the Yooka-Laylee soundtrack CD.

Podcasts
None

YouTube channels
None

I'll watch trailers on YouTube, but that's it.

Websites/Forums
SONM
GRcade
GNamer (although fallen off recently)
NeoGAF (lurk)

Just forums. I'll only read website articles that get linked to from forums or that happen to come up on the duckduckgo app, apart from around E3 where I'll actively seek content.

That's a good point. I voraciously consume gaming media... which is probably why I spend too much money (for me in my situation) on videogaming. Perhaps I need to lay off some of the reading and watching.

I get most of my news from here and YouTube, and also VG247 because it sometimes has interesting pieces or handy links to trailers/stories.

I used to frequent IGN and GameTrailers, and maintain Edge and NGC subs, way back when.

I actually consume next-to-no gaming media. Not just talking in a literal sense either.

I go to this place and I'll read Eurogamer reviews either before or after a purchase.

I haven't bought magazines since NGC ceased publication, bar the odd issue of Edge when traveling (and that's ground to a halt now I've left the UK).

I'll probably read and watch a few things around E3, and then it'll be back to seeing it when it crops up on here which, given our size and scope, isn't exactly exhaustive as a news source.

I will make an honorable mention to Mark Brown's YouTube videos. Can't be arsed going to get a link but you should all check them out. They aren't gaming news and not really opinion pieces, but more about design and mechanics. His on-going Boss Keys series on Zelda dungeons is also well worth a watch. I think I discovered him through some Dark Souls stuff, as From Software's games always make me want to go through loads of articles and videos after I've finished them.

Yes! I don't really consume them regularly but they for sure are great videos.

The hype is definitely a powerful thing.

FOMO certainly exists for me. I'm trying to only buy a game once a month. What I'm learning is that the games will still be there... and the communities will still be there...and they'll often be a lot cheaper (apart from you 'Nioh' - when will you ever come down in price????)
