For me it would probabily be horror and the never ending supply of "party games" like rock band, guitar hero, scene it, buzz...

For horror its pretty self explanitry, i am not one who likes generally un-nerving scenarios in games, i can put up with it no end in the cinema, but for some reason i just cant play "scary" games, like Doom 3 and resident evil.

The other genre i refuse to pay for, is the fact that if i really wanted to play on a guitar i would go out and get a guitar, i am a bit of an economic gamer, and when you pay £69.99 for a plastic guitar and a few tracks, and then a further £1 for every additional track you want to play, its just one of those kinda games that i get really anal about paying good money for!

Sports games, but I am partial to Mario Golf and Tennis though.

I have never bought a party game, and I can't ever see me buying one. If I am having a party the last thing I want to do is play video games.

My wife wants a wii and whenever she sees an ad for rock band or some other game that involves making a tool of yourself she is like "ohhh I want to try that", but I know it would get played once then forgotten about.

I can look like a tool without the help of technology, thank you very much.

JRPGs. I try one again every three years or so to see if my views on them have changed, but never end up liking their hideously outdated mechanics.

Fighting games; I don't really see the fun in them.

RTS (Command & Conquer, Company Of Heroes, Universe At War etc), sports (Fifa, PES, Madden, NHL etc), strategic shooters (Rainbow 6, GRAW, Arma etc) and flight sims.

RPG's. I don't care where they come from, I don't like them. And bar Resident Evil, horror. I don't want a heart-attack for a good while yet, thank you.

I like them, but only if I am playing against a fellow button masher. I hate playing against people who refuse to play until they have learned all of the combos of every character. Unless I get a freak button mash combo against them and they lose the plot and break their pad in a tantrum. Then I love them. :lol:

Driving games, there is nothing more tedious then them (maybe consolegaming's posts though)

First Person Shooters.

I'm susceptible of Far Cry 2 & Killzone 2 even though they both look stunning, they'll mean gooseberry fool to me if there's no originality - a dirty word in the genre.

Music games like Guitar Hero etc. do my head in, which is odd seeing as I'm quite good on the guitar. Actually maybe that explains it: I'm good on the real thing, but crap at these games. :o That DS Elite Beat thingy was also monumentally rubbish in my eyes.

I've fallen out of love with the beat 'em up as well after having spent a good part of my youth chucking 10ps into SFII and Mortal Kombat games. I don't really know why, but the complexity of VF puts me off, and I found GC Smash Brothers a bit shallow and generally quite boring.

JRPGs are also a no-go area if they have:

(a) Spikey haired protagonists;
(b) Drippy story lines;
(c) Random battles;
(d) Rubbish turn based combat.

Pretty much all of them then!

Probably sports games for me. I generally find them quite difficult to get into, and not as much fun as other games.

Strategy games. I like the idea of them, but generally don't have the patience.

I do have a copy of Civ Rev at home though and I keep telling myself to give it a try. I think I may just need one great strategy to change my opinion. Then getting into any others may become easier.

'Realistic' driving games too. I find them dull and I don't like cars much, so the petrolhead side of it holds no appeal.

:o

Someone else who didn't like it. But then I had played Ouendan before playing EBA and thought it wasn't very good compared to Ouendan. I thought I was the only one who didn't like it!

Anyway, as for genres I tend to avoid: turn-based RPGs, driving sims, flight sims and RTSs. It's mainly because I'm not very good at them!
