Great game! Used voxels if I remember correctly.

Indeed, infinite level space or something like that. Also had other stuff like bullet drop, weapon lockers, waypointing and in-game maps etc.

Delta Force 2 was my first online experience, absolutely mental

That's impossible, everyone knows online gaming started with Halo 2.

Sorry.

They starting to look a bit bland now though dont you think? The animations haven't changed since COD4 (5 years now). That same forward awkward looking lurching run and reload animations. Same explosions, same everything really, for 5 years.

Halo mp and single player for me just has some Epic moments that outshine COD's personally. Something basic and simple that keeps it a cleaner and fairer online experience.

COD and Halo are both bland and boring now. They've BOTH been done to death.

The sequel to MW2? The Modern Warefare that all Modern Warefare fans want? No chance. Perhaps the next one but certainly not this one

Like I said it will sell well still, but it will be down on the last game. I only know of a single person who will be getting it on the first day.

I mean this with the utmost respect but unless you're a top celebrity with a ton of friends I don't think that just because your friends arn't getting it then it's going to sell badly. What makes you believe it's go to sell less than last year? Battlefield?

Based upon 2 secondary schools. I guess different areas have different tastes.

And not just because of Battlefield, there is Halo too, as well as it being yet another CoD title.

It's only my opinion anyway, nothing can be based on fact at this point.

How so? we've had year after year of COD and only 3 Halo games and 2 Halo games with proper MP in the same time, all 3 with revised engines, with Reach having a completley new engine entirely. Hardly the same thing.

At least Halo has done something different with ODST and told the story of Reach rather than rely on the Master Chief.

As single player games, the Halo series (despite some crappy levels) definitely have the edge. I prefer the freedom you get in the Halo series, the fact that you're not being funnelled, the more intelligent enemies, the drop in/drop out MP mode, the vehicles. Everything.

However, I still keep coming back to the MP mode. There's that 'COD' response that Halo simply can't replicate, the fact that you can customise your loadouts to your style, and that I prefer COD's soldier scenario over Halo's space marines one. I also prefer COD's frenetic pace over Halo's more cerebral one.

It doesn't matter, they are all FPS games and get grouped together. The general public doesn't really see Halo and CoD as different, they are both video games to them.

The Call of Duty games have always followed the same formula, irrespective of what Bungie did with Halo. It's laughable to suggest that the COD games have evolved the way they have today, because IW knew they couldn't beat Halo.

Halo introduced 2 weapons only to FPS gaming. Believe it or not, Halo:CE has influenced more games than you think.

Apart from the 'two weapons' thing, what else did Halo bring to the table?

Sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health.

Thats fair enough, personal choice and all that. I mean, I'm rubbish at both online but dont get near as annoyed as I do in COD. Its too frantic for my liking but then again, so are the smaller Halo levels. When I kill someone i like to be able to draw breathe for a few seconds before being involved in another firefight but I suppose thats how Halo is, you need to recharge your shields in between.

Can't be arsed with the MP. As Photek said, repeatedly dying on claustrophobic maps, as part of a 'team', albeit with no teamwork whatsoever beyond not shooting each other, is not fun in my opinion.

I much prefer Battlefield's style of larger, open maps, with vehicles, a slower pace, etc.

Hence, I'd only get this for the single player and will therefore pick it up second hand only if the feedback is good, as Wedgie said.

Good point Jam, because of the perks system there is no teamwork at all in COD!

Meep wrote:It would be very bad if big games like this failed. Much like the movie industry, companies rely on big blockbuster titles to gaurantee themselves a reliable income. Without that guaranteed income from big franchises they will be less inclined to take risks elsewhere, meaning less original games.

Put it this way, if you think you might lose your job next week, or have your income slashed, you aren't going to be investing in anything risky that week.

I think the opposite would be true. No game is taking less of a risk than the yearly Call of Duty sequel, and so if that fails then it shows that people want something original rather than another generic FPS.
