Isao Takahata's new film is scheduled to release this year in Japan too. Probably won't see them over here until 2015.

So, From Up on Poppy Hill is premièring on Film Four this summer. Anyone know if it's any good?

I also liked the connection between Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns. I only got around to finally watching The Cat Returns the other day, so didn't even know about it.

It's good, saw it last week at the Fact cinema in Liverpool. It's much better than the director's first film (Tales From Earthsea).

Hayao Miyazaki Retires From Making Feature Films

I'm fairly certain Miyazaki has been saying he's retiring after every film since Spirited Away.

Film 4 have had another Ghibli season going and this time around I've tuned into more than just my favourites. I also finally managed to catch Princess Mononoke from the beginning! I have a new favourite to add to my fave Ghibli films list :mrgreen:

There were parts where some of the dialogue was drowned out by the soundtrack, did not appreciate that. Oh and, I wasn't expecting it to be so violent.
Ponyo won me over but I wish it had been one of the films F4 broadcast with original dialogue and subs because some of English VA grated my innards.
