I have had these

And they are okay, but I am not too impressed. Are there any better? Without a ridiculous price?

I have been looking today, and I have found some that look okay. However I have no idea what ones are better, and they are all (basically) the same price.

I am very interested in the music quality, I will use them just as much for that as gaming.

I found Logitech G930 which are wireless.
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Logitech-G930-71-Surround-Sound-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/8607882/
These seem to get pretty good reviews, and are on random sites top 10 list. Also not having a cord is nice, I broke my other ones due to cord problems. However I am under the impression wireless is not as good as wired, if that is the case is it notable?

Next I found SteelSeries Siberia V2.
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/SteelSeries-Siberia-V2-Headset-Anniversary-Edition-BlackGold-Plated/19267924/
Staydead, you recommended these and they pop up on lots of top ten lists. They also look sexy. (BUT my brother says they aren't powered? Is this true?! That is pretty gooseberry fool if they aren't)

However are they as good, or better than a SteelSeries 7H Headset?
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/SteelSeries-7H-Headset/19267935/
These are more expensive and according to this site http://gaming-headsets-review.toptenreviews.com/ they are better than the V2. Are they?

These Turtle Beach Z6A's also look okay according to reviews.
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/Turtle-Beach-Z6A-Pro-Gaming-Headset/18385033/
Something about good sound quality which is great. However they sound breakable, which isn't a good thing if you are me. But according to that site, these are the second best. This site says you need a good sound card http://pcworld.co.nz/pcworld/pcw.nsf/reviews/turtle-beach-ear-force-z6a not sure if I have that. Especially on my laptop.

And these Tritton AX720 are more pricey.
http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Xbox-360/Tritton-AX720-Dolby-Headphone-Surround-Sound-PC-PS3-X360/10184054/
However I don't know much about them, my old cheaper Trittons broke.
Also these http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Xbox-360/Tritton-GoW-Dolby-71-Surround-Sound-Headset-for-Xbox-360/18267597/ are very cheap but have a strawberry floating high RRP.

But I really know nothing about these sorts of things, I have no idea what the technical specs mean. I like the wireless ones, but would rather just go for wired if there is a (considerable) difference in quality. I also don't care how they look, I just want them to be comfy and have good sound quality. Any advice chaps?

I have the white Steelseries Siberia V2 and love them. Only problem I have is the mic could do with being a tad longer.

And what do you mean by being powered?

You plug them in with a USB plug, and you hear the fuzzy sound and they get good bass etc.
Amplification is the word I am looking for. They don't have amplification apparantly. Nor do they have surround sound processing, what ever that means.

I use it for my laptop as well, can't upgrade that. Well, I could get an external one but that isn't very portable. What is so great about corsair 1300?

I do need a mic, why don't those corsair ones have a USB plug? How do they get powered if they don't :?

I don't see how that even works, but I take your word for it. But I can't find them in any store in NZ I know, plus as I said the sound card thing is an issue.

At the moment I think I have narrowed it down to two, the SteelSeries 7H Headset http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Stee ... /19267935/ , (The V2 looks good, but I don't see how it can sound good)
And the Tritton GoW Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound Headset http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Xbox-360/Tritton-GoW-Dolby-71-Surround-Sound-Headset-for-Xbox-360/18267597/

The turtle beach ones needed a good sound card as well, which is why I ruled them out.

I understand now.

I do need a USB one unfortunately. One day I might get a sound card, but while I still use my laptop there is no point.

Usually the ones with a usb plug have a crappy little sound card built into them, to make the bass sound ruin your hearing and make all high frequencies attract all local dogs.

Get the corsair 1300s.

You need a good sound card for that though, right?
