Growing up going to the swimming pool was a very exciting experience. The smell of the water, the size, the echoes and the impending fun.

As a kid, The Pyramids in Portsmouth was the best swimming pool ever. The whole of Southsea was like a kids dream. A beach, a huge playing field, amusement park, sealife center, ICE CREAM but best of all The Pyramids.

It had three snaking slides which you usually had to queue for. Three seperate pools in one giant room but the best one had a wave machine that went off every so often, hurling you around the pool. It was the greatest thing ever!

In the top right of this picture the pole made quite a powerful water forcefield that was really fun going in and out of, like waterfall.

Next month I'm going to Center Parcs and the swimming pool there looks stunning.

What are your favourite pools?

What an odd question.

I go to the Pyramid Centre. Never been in the pool though.

I don't go to pools these, and all the ones I've been to in the past have just been in leisure centres or hotels, so nothing special.

Indoor. Centre Parcs. Amazing place. The indoor outdoor rapids are so addictive. Never the same ride twice.

Outdoor. Typhoon Lagoon in Disney. A 10th wave every 5 mins. Amazing lazy river. Fun and scary slides. And snorkling.

Cheltenham Lido.

The only other pool I really go to is the one at the Crystal, and that's a bit... iffy.

They did a really good job on it. Glad they decided to renovate it.

Haven't been to that for years.

Condoms and plasters all over the place in that gooseberry fool hole.

Best I've been to is probably one in Hiley (sp?) as it was outdoors and awesome in the middle of summer.

More of a sea person, myself.

Wow, that's really nice. Early 20th century architecture:

I must say I never go to council swimming pools. I really can't think of much worse.

Worth a visit if you ever find yourself in Plymouth. Not too expensive iirc and the water is seawater with chlorine added.

The Olympia in Dundee. Haha. The "Bomber" that is a flume with a drop at the end into a diving pool is fun, as are the "river rapids".

I've never seen the top diving board open there. I'm pretty sure it's got a few near-fatalities under its belt.
