I've bumped into mates from school in the most unlikely places in the world, including not particularly likely places Larnaca and Prague.

G-Ratasaurus just posted a picture taken from the boardwalk at Kandahar Airfield, and I suddenly remembered the entire layout of the camp.

I've noticed recently that time displacement is affecting me heavily. And I don't mean in the manner of "Oh, don't the years go by faster as you age", I mean it in a way where I'll be sitting on a bench somehwere and before I know it I've been there over an hour and people think I'm busking.

It happened at a party once where apparently people were taking bets that I'd slipped into a trance as I hadn't moved in about 2 hours yet was sat up straight and was occasionally taking sips from whatever glass was closest to me. I honestly thought it had only been about two minutes.

Coupled with my lack of dreams and I do question as to whether I'm comatose or not most of the time.

Maybe you think slowly. Try taking an IQ test or something? :P

You're just saying that to strawberry float with me, right?

They were red.

Not at all man. I wish I could relive that time at Laser Quest :( Epic doesn't do it justice.

Darkness, neon lights flashing, thick artificial smoke, metal blasting out, the heavy weight of the gun and pack on you...sweat pouring of me;adrenaline flowing through my veins.. why did it have to close :?:

This reminds me of one of my bizarre moments. I used to work in Quasar in Glasgow, it was based in the Templeton Business Centre on Glasgow Green. The guys who were behind it were all from Edinburgh and had obviously failed to do their homework before deciding on this location.

Glasgow Green at that time (and probably still is) was in one of the worst neighbourhoods in Glasgow. It was bad enough during the day but at night it was more or less a no go area. Drug dealers, gangs of neds, prostitutes, guys kerb crawling and pimps all came out of the woodwork once night fell.

It gradually became clear to the owners that they had made a major strawberry float up as people stopped coming and we were relying on our regulars to survive. Laser Quest had opened and although it wasn't as good as Quasar parents didn't have to worry about dodging junkies and hookers.

Anyway, back to my bizarre experience, it is more funny than bizarre, but at the time it had me laughing and shaking my head and muttering "what a funny old world we live in".

I was walking home from work one night. I was in the Merchant City and it was about midnight and hardly anyone was about as it was during the week. All of a sudden this car blows its horn and this woman rolls down the window and starts shouting at me. My first thoughts after shitting myself are naturally where do I run to. After this passes I actually listen to what she has to say and it is this "Hey you! How you doing? You work down the Green don't you?"

I look up and notice it is one of the prostitutes. She is smiling a huge smile and waving at me, looking like she has never been happier to see someone. Her trick on the other hand was sliding deeper and deeper in to his seat, a look of utter horror on his face. This is when I discovered I could read people's minds. His mind was saying "oh strawberry float oh strawberry float oh strawberry float oh strawberry float"

I was going to finish this by saying that the trick was my Dad, but since my Dad is dead it didn't seem fair and it wasn't Dad anyway. Well he wasn't my dad, he was probably someones dad though.

If I ever write a novel though I would make this a father and son moment. Maybe through this they discover a bond and get together and have a spit roast or maybe the dad loses control of the car and knocks the son over. Or the son who had long admired his father is destroyed by this and enters into a downward spiral of self destruction but is ultimately saved by the love of a caring stranger. Who knows?

Splitting up with nightmare boyfriend, man I like splitting up with his nightmare girlfriend, going on holiday with man I like to Turkey, then starting relationship with man I like!

It is the most surreal feeling ever. I was so fond of him when we first met. And he is a Sayid-Lost lookalike. *sigh*

Two good ones from me.

One.

'Girl I had a long term thing for' was on holiday in New Zealand/Australia for about six months a year ago. I was casually checking out what she'd been up to on Facebook (stories of skydiving and such). Anyway, I noticed she been added new friends, one of them was on the University of Sheffield network. Having gone to Sheffield I decided to check him out on the off-chance I knew a friend. No mutual friends, but I looked at some of his photos anyway. The photos of a house party he'd been to looked familiar. Then I realised the house wasn't just in that photo. It was in most of the photos, must've been where he lived - it looked really familiar, must have been on my road... And he was in one room a lot. Then I saw some familiar features. This was the very same room I had lived in for two years. Worked out that he must have moved in when I left. To put that in brief - she met a Brit in New Zealand (literally the other side of the world), who went to University in Sheffield (approx. 25,700 students attend that), who lived in the same student house as me (lots of different student houses) and lived in my room (out of nine possibles).

Two.

I spent six months working for a charity which ran a classical/jazz music festival. One evening after one of our concerts I was hanging out with my boss. I was asking her if she'd ever had to work with anyone famous who was really rude. She told me about once when she had been working in a theatre in Maidstone. Once this comedi - I interrupted. "Sean Lock". She'd never told me this story before and I've never seen this theatre in Maidstone or met/heard any stories about Sean Lock, but I was bang on the money. We all sat around for a minute looking at each other - bemused. I've no idea to this day how I knew.

If that's the one I'm thinking of (all I remember was it was in Glasgow somewhere and you may have had to walk up stairs in the building to get to it) didn't they have special event days? I remember one which involved someone dressed up as the Predator or something.

When I first met my current girlfriend we decided to go to the movies. Just before we went in my mobile rang and a male voice shouted at me "What the hell are you doing with my daughter?". Shitting myself I quickly hung up and asked her why she had told her dad my number! She said it couldn't have been her dad as he died years ago.....

I've had this recently, moved 4 hours away from where i used to go to primary school, and when some friends went to York to university, on webcam he was showing me his room, and sitting on his bed, was a girl I used to know, then later on found someone at University who had gone to Senior school with all my primary school friends. Makes you wonder is it merely a conicendence?

The Laser Quest in Glasgow was on the corner of Argyle Street, Trongate and Stockwell Street. I think it had a Sci Fi zone and a Horror zone.

Was it up some stairs? That must be it. I remember it having 2 zones. Well, 2 rooms anyway. It was awesome.
