My observation is the best thing about the UK is it's very well organised. Which is why we're so upset when something does go wrong... Everywhere (well, in many places) it's just accepted things don't always work.

I dunno, I lately had some Cadbury's and Milka (both presumably made here using American recipes and inferior ingredients) and they were both fine. The Milka wasn't perhaps as good as thew European counterpart, but the Cadbury's tasted nicer.

Fries certainly are Satan's creation; they're strawberry floating impossible to spear with a fork!

Does Britain have Sweet Potato Chips? If it doesn't, it needs them. Godly food.

Theres very little that pisses me off more then the fact everyone seems afraid to be British. Why should we be ashamed of ourselves? We have given the world a lot - and we should have much more national pride then we do.

Where's Peter Crisp? I'd have thought he'd be all over this thread!

This is a great place to live, but it gets hard to see the good stuff through the bad sometimes.

A small type of lobster that's wrapped up in breadcrumbs.

Best tasting is, obviously, Whitby Scampi

I've been around a bit; I've stood on the lip of the Grand Canyon and watched the mighty Colorado River, no more than a muddy streak of piss one mile down; I've hiked the Rockies, just outside Banff, British Columbia and I've sat on the back porch of a beach house in San Diego, sipping sundowners as dolphins cavort out in the Pacific Ocean, slowly making their playful way down south to the Baja Peninsular.

But still the British countryside, somehow suspended in time on a perfect mid-summer's afternoon, just does it for me. The sound of a light aircraft dreamily passing somewhere distant, the tolling of a church bell drifting in across rolling fields, a dog barking, distant sheep... North Devon can do that - it's a magical place - lost forever somewhere back in the post-war years, beautiful to look at in any direction, and yet somehow very surreal. Another world. Home.

lol no I meant what exactly is it, like proper name, which you kind of answered. I love scampi, beautiful stuff. The point I was meandering towards was that I fear it may not be british, even though whitby has its own delicious variety.

In Edinburgh we get ours from the castle moat.

Definitely agree about milk. The Milk here is 99% Ultra High Temperature stuff. Pure gooseberry fool. The real stuff costs twice as much and has a teeny tiny section in only the biggest supermarkets so I don't get it very often.

I imagine that's true no matter where you are. It's our nature to accentuate the negative.

Of course, what Britain needs is Charleys.
