E3 2014 Ratings Thread

Please only vote once per company.

Q) Monkey Man, why is there voting options for conferences that haven't taken place yet!?!
A) Re-voting is on so you can add or adjust your ratings as E3 rumbles on. Or you can just wait until after Nintendo and do them all at once.

I went for a B for Microsoft. I loved the focus on nothing but games but there perhaps weren't too many big announcements. If it weren't for the leaks and they announced stuff like Crackdown, Chief Collection without any of the leaks then I probably would've given it an A.

I gave an A to Microsoft. A breathless presentation jam-packed with exciting games and clips. Such a huge step up from last year; very impressive.

EDIT: Someone has awarded a C?!? Tough crowd.

I'd either give them a B- or a C+, in the end I've gone for a C because of a lack of new exclusive gameplay footage from stuff beyond this year.

Sorry but a bunch of CGI trailers does nothing for me.

B for Microsoft, but it was one megaton away from being an A. In terms of pace you just won't get a better E3

Microsoft - B+
A very solid showing and did what they needed to do at this point, which was just show off games, games and more games. However... The titles I'm most looking forward from it were multiplatform. Sunset Overdrive looks fun, but I'm not blown away by it. Crackdown though was the one exclusive they showed/announced that I was excited for. Not enough to overcome my objections to Microsoft and their previous policies just yet, but give it another year or so and some exclusives that I'd love to play and I'm nearly there. Easily the best show they've put on in years. Phil Spencer came across really well too.

EA - C
It wasn't a bad conference at all, it was all just a bit average. Nothing jumped out at me. Battlefront was probably the highlight for me, but since we won't see it for probably another year yet I'm not quite at critical hype mass. Battlefield: Hardline, while looking like a mod for Battlefield 4, did seem like fun and I do love Battlefield.

Ubisoft - B-
Again a solid showing. Some good looking titles. Assassins Creed looked nice and spangly, even if it's not vastly better looking. Thought Valiant Hearts looked wonderful and that Rainbow Six reveal. :datass:

Sony - B
After last year they were never going to hit that high again, but it was a good show, with a lot of stuff in it. European Vita TV info was welcome. No Mans Sky continues to look strawberry floating awesome. Grim Fandango was a pleasant surprise as well. Arkham Knight looked lovely, especially the extra height Gotham seems to have now. Destiny could have done with something more and I wasn't as excited for it as I previously had been. Lack of European Playstation Now info sucked. It just didn't seem to have that one "strawberry float yeah!" announcement that would have matched Microsofts showing. Uncharted could have been that moment, if it wasn't already known it was coming. The talk about "Powers" and other PSN stuff made the last third sag a little.

Microsoft - B

After the lastyear which is rubbish, I'm really happy how it turned out. All games and none of TV stuff, and very small mention of Kinect games.

While it's mostly CGI trailers (shame) I'm still looking forward to brand new Crackdown, as well Halo collection & that indie game that's based on 1930 cartoons

EA - B- (Voted for B)

It was mostly sports and nuff that I don't really enjoy, but I gotta admit it looks nice in graphics front and I laughed out loud at "X-treme" golf thing... yeah. Looking forward to Dragon Age and Mirrors Edge 2 though.

Ubisoft - C+ (Voted for C)

Nothing really jumped out to me (guess that says more about my game tastes) other than Assassin Creed & Far Cry and I didn't really enjoy watching it much as others. Nice amount of games, but also not amazing. I did laugh at that exercise mini-game thingy though.

Sony - B+

Really far impressed with it, wish they didn't put the comic thing or Tv stuff in there though as I was just bored of it and wanted them to move back to games already. It was less CGI (actual gameplay footage) and I never knew LBP3 was coming, so that's nice. Grim Fandango probably stole the show for me though as I really want to replay that and I can't find decent copy that works on Windows 7... and No Man's Sky is amazing looking.

Didn;t watch MS but EA wasn't great, Ubisoft was just same old dull Ubisoft and Sony was actually keeping in with the spirit of what E3 is suppose to be about.

Microsoft - D
EA - N/A
Ubisoft - C
Sony - C

It somewhat makes sense my scores are quite low, my gaming tastes are completely different to what E3 has to offer and who it targets.

I know what you mean, personally I'm upset that the likes of Konami no longer have press conferences, it's rally sad to see everyone become part players in what is a show dominated by the big 5.

If he's like me, that 5 seconds of Star Wars Battlefront 'in-engine' footage. Highlight of E3 for me so far.

In terms of the actual conference sony deserve an F, what a mess of technical errors and bad speakers. I was surprised at the low number of reveals of big games this year, although I guess that's a consequence of everything already announced being 2015 releases

I find it very hard to get excited about something that probably won't look anything like that come release.

Battlefront 3
Dragon Age: Inquisition (actually looked pretty good)
Mass Effect
Criterion's New Game (Megaton)
Battlefield Hardline (Beta now)
