PostWhat to buy?

I'll just throw it out there, I'm going to buy two games in the run-up to christmas and get another two on xmas. One game for xmas is Gears 2.

The question is, which two should I buy? Fallout 3, Fable 2 or a different one that will be chosen based on your recommendations (I'm thinking Mercs 2, Dead Space or something)

Any help in choosing will be much appreciated

Fable 2, because Fallout 3 isn't as good as Oblivion.

Really? It sounds much better than Oblivion.

And I forgot to mention I have a £41 credit note at gamestation so I'll basically be getting one of the games for free.

As Hero has probably already played the game i respect his opinion so i reckon neither to be honest. Fable 2 looks like the type of game that will consume your life, if you have the time then go for it.

I think far cry 2, saints row 2 and just cause 2 could possibly be the ones to look out for.

Then just get both or fable 2 and far cry 2 to mix up the genres a little bit.

Forgot about banjo kazooie nuts and bolts and left4dead, you might want to consider them also.

TBH though you might want to hold off, i am going to be very cautious when picking my autumn/winter games, theres going to be so many and at present i only have littlebigplanet earmarked as a definite purchase along with either fifa 09 or pes 2009. None of the other games like fallout 3, far cry 2, saints row 2, just cause 2 or animal crossing city folk have me convinced based on impressions from websites.

Did you like Oblivion?

Very surprised that you'd say that especially when nearly all the previews have been very positive about the game.

Anyway, I also recommend Fable 2. (looks amazing)

You might also want to consider Saint's Row 2, Left 4 Dead, Banjo: Nuts & Bolts, Prince of Persia & Tomb Raider Underworld.

Assuming you don't have a PS3 (and therefore won't be getting LBP), I'd suggest Mirror's Edge.

I'd also suggest you look at both Prince of Persia and Left 4 Dead.

Fable 2, the 1st was my game of last gen so this is really something I'm looking forward too - which is a big thing a I was a massive fan of the first 2 fallout games too

Fable 2 over everything else this year IMO

Fallout 3 for me. Fable 2 sets off all sorts of alarm bells, I'm afraid. Fable 1 was a real disappointment, and I see no reason to doubt the sequel will be any different. I still shudder when I recall the godawful 'accents' the NPCs had in Fable1. Just completely laughable, and revealed the game to be the shallow, kiddified RPG-lite it always was.

Fallout 3, on the other hand, comes from a trusted and proven developer with a major hit or two already on its CV. Everything I've seen about this game intrigues and enthuses me to hope it really will deliver on its promise.
