Kinda making this thread to prove a point, but also quite curious to see how well rounded we have become since even Karl isn't 12 anymore. Those without (myself included) tell us where you ended up without following what school had led us all to believe we'd be so strawberry floated up without.

No degree, dropped out of General Nursing BSc after first year with ill health.

Now still in nursing as a support role but moving into social care as a manager with Glasgow Council.

No degree, didn't go to uni as despite being more than capable mentally, the nature of my disability would have eventually prevented me from being employable (as is now the case).

Dropped out of Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

After years of studying by myself while doing a job I loathed I'm now a programmer and I love it a lot.

I finished a degree in English & Media 12 years ago. I used it to get a job as a music tutor  It might have helped getting a social media gig a few years ago, but yeah I always did/do something completely different.

No degree, no real hope of ever getting one.

I work as a Senior Quality Control Operator for Dealertrack Technologies, which is now owned by Cox Automotive.

I spend my days looking at scanned images of contracts and all their attendant addenda (warranties, insurance docs, credit apps etc), seeing if the data entry folks in Validata down in Mexico keyed gooseberry fool in wrong or not. It's tedious, dead-end and it's ruining my eyesight, but at $12.24/hr it pays better than most other positions in the facility, and I don't fancy working retail again, so I'm pretty much stuck.

Didn't bother with University even though my grades were good enough. Just wasn't enjoying education anymore.

Currently work as a reporting analyst in the utility sector.

Degree is BA(Hons) (Fine) Arts and Media. I made drawings and interactive art instalations while studying the history of performance art and the nature of interactivity and exhibition practices. I later focused on sonic art. My last public exhibition was in September for 2 weeks.

Now I run a small design and fabrication business with the Prince's Trust. I design and make things like work apparel, signs and gifts. It's strawberry floating hard generally spending a lot of time encouraging people to spend money on something you know you do well. Previously I was an in house digital designer / marketing specialist and I've done a few other jobs including Gallery Technician for the same university. I basically turned a pile of art into a large exhibition over and over again until my arms fell off. My first job was a visual effects intern in Soho if you don't count the first thing I sold, which was a website for a film director who's currently in Hollywood. I got fired from visual effects for coughing. I forgot about doing my own thing for a long time after uni, but getting that first cheque off the back of something I did with nobody's help still means infinitely more to me than a salary. I either get bored or straight up sick working in an office, so I don't.

Something I feel a lot lately is that I'm not done yet. I don't care what a traditional career looks like and I have no faith in the job economy, but I like treating customers well. I think if you want to do something, do it, don't expect someone else to set it up for you.

Got a journalism degree then landed some tidy roles that could've seen me rolling in the cash. Instead I dropped off and squatted in eastern europe for a year while working part-time as a teacher, don't regret it at all. Fortunately landed a very good marketing role a few months ago. Still on probation though mind.

I'm doing a PhD in Education, and I do research... in education. It's fun. I've worked for companies and never understood how people can prefer work to studying. I like the work, there's always something new to look at/ complain about.

I sort of did that. I quit, got bored, spent all my money on essentially robots to make stuff faster and then charged money for it.

I wish I could afford to spend money on shite like a holiday but eventually you just forget about buying things.
