There are too many to possibly choose from.

OTN, that video brought tears to my eyes, I've never heard All Along The Watch Tower live before - same for Mogwai's I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead - just checked it out, and at the crescendo (?)!

I was thinking this today. Either -

Helios - Halving The Compass
Aphex Twin - Nanou 2
Goldmund - My Neighborhood
Sigur Rós - Hoppipolla
Sigur Rós - Untitled 3
Sigur Rós - Seaglopur
Mogwai - I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead
Massive Attack - Live With Me
Radiohead - Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Radiohead - Last Flowers To The Hospital
Radiohead - Go Slowly
Radiohead - Karma Police

To fair, I could write tons more out, but wouldn't be able to pick one. I know I'd die happily if I were listening to Nanou 2 though.

Saying that, that's not even taking into account any Explosions In The Sky - far too many!

3 out of your 4 Radiohead songs are off In Rainbows. That's unusual.

I think of 3 songs everytime this question is asked.

Lostprophets - Last Summer
Jimmy Eat World - Dizzy
Jimmy Eat World - 23

I'm in a 23 mood.

To be honest, I could also say How To Dissapear Completely, Lucky, Let Down, Street Spirit, etc, etc, but then it'd just be an abudance of Radiohead :|.

Some good songs there Loire, although why you picked I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead over the countless better Mogwai tracks I'll never know.

I'd probably have to go with:

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Moya

...or strawberry float loads of others.

I've only heard The Hawk Is Howling and Happy Songs For Happy People, and Ratts Of The Capital was my favourite off of that. I'll have to listen to some Godspeed! - which album to start with?

Easy one for me...

Ian Pooley - Chord Memory (Daft Punk Remix)
[youtubeuk]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oN-AXBD2P8E[/youtubeuk]
The one track inspired me to produce the type of music I do today.

Just listenning each individual layer build up and work over the rest of the track is pretty hypnotising (and totally blew my little mind back in '96).

How many of these are actually serious choices?

Anyway:

Romeo & Juliet - Dire Straits
Threnody - Two Gallants
Amie - Damien Rice

Good call on Romeo & Juliet mate, absolutely love it.

Loire, I'd probably say Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is Godspeed's most accessible album (if indeed you could say they have any). You should give them a listen in though, very dark, but very epic stuff. Nothing in generic post-rock terms can rival Moya's build up and pay-off. Simply brilliant stuff.

Listened to a couple of Helios tracks after that one you posted, really liking some of it. Can you give me a good place to start aswell please pal?

Also, Bruce Springsteen's 'Atlantic City' is another favourite.

'Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold, but with you forever I'll stay. We're goin' out where the sand's turnin' to gold, put on your stockings babe, 'cos the night's gettin' cold.'

Of course! I heard Eingya about a year ago (his second album) after Forest's reccomendation. Whilst it was a grower, it became my favourite album (ever!), by summer. I say it's a grower, but in saying that my music tastes were rather shallow around that time - I suppose if you're quite diverse you might take to it quickly. I can't recommend it enough, though.

The chap who made it, Keith Kenniff, does lo-fi piano tracks under the alias of Goldmund - well worth a look-in.
